Thank you for the great video and explanation! I’m about to perform this service on my wife’s 2020 Kia Sorrento and I’m thinking I will upgrade to the aluminum. Has the new aluminum oil filter housing been good for you? Any follow up you can give us before I make my purchase?

@hondaphan4172 says:

Bottom line: It's a stupid design which more than likely was influenced by the bean counters calling for the oil filter housing to be made out of plastic instead of making the common-sense decision to make it out of aluminum. My daughter owns a '23 Palisade and although her's isn't leaking yet I'm planning to tackle this job in a month or two when it warms up in the Northeast. Plastic….PLASTIC?!!! SMDH.

I replaced just the seal yesterday. I had already bought the replacement seal before I saw where people were upgrading to the aluminum housing. I’ll run it until it starts leaking again and then throw the aluminum one on. Thanks for the video very helpful during install.

Will replacing this void your 100K warranty?

Just did the job myself. Make sure you add silicone to the treads because they extend into the jacket. I noticed it when I went inspected the studs and seen rubber so I assume oil can seep out if not done.

Nice comprehensive instructions, thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us DIY'ers. I don't only do my own maintenance to save money, but I enjoy it and like learning new stuff.

Just experienced that on my 2021.. are you familiar with it being tied with coolant?

@ivanvega2821 says:

Would this be similar to do on a 2008 Hundai Veracruz?
