It’s easy and quick to change/replace a bulb/lamp and something most people can do at home, with minimal tools. You could even save some money by doing it yourself, instead of leaving it to a car mechanic.

The usual way of replacing a faulty/broken bulb/lamp is by dismantle the whole headlight from the car. In my humble opinion, this way is faster and less of a fuzz. I’m big, so I need to move some things, but if you have small hands, you might be able doing this without moving the coolant dispenser or battery.

The lamp/bulb is 12V H7 55W
The socket wrench I use is a 10 mm and 12 mm (for the battery).

On the right side (from the driver position) you need to loosen and move the coolant dispenser a bit.

On the left side (from the drivers position) you need to loosen the battery (but not disconnecting it).

Never touch the bulb/lamp with bare hands. Always use gloves. Fat (finger prints) could get stuck on the glass and a halogen lamp gets very hot. The fat from the fingers then burn and could crack the glass.

I recommend changeing replacing both bulbs/lamps every time. Even if you have a working lamp/bulb (save the working bulb/lamp) as a spare in the car. If you change both light, they will have the same amount of life span.

Dont buy the cheapest bulbs (especially if you live in cold climate). The temperature change from a hot bulb/lamp to cold night air could shorthen the lifespan of the bulb/lamp.

This specific Kia Cee’d is a 2008/2009 model, but the same process whould work with 2010 and newer models too. The process is even the same with many other cars like Hyundai Atos, Hyundai Getz or Kia Piccanto.

Without this vid I wouldn’t have been able to do this. Couldn’t seem to get headlight out so thanks.
What I will say though is that this design is stupid. Changing a bulb should be like a wheel – easy for anyone to do, it’s safety critical. There are plenty of people who wouldn’t have been able to do this easily for many reasons and if night was setting in its damn dangerous. Whoever thought this access was acceptable should have been fired from the design team imo

Why don't you just remove the head lamp? Mush faster and easy.

Great video! Really helped me and I made it without moving the battery 😉 Thanks!

Hey! I am having trouble releasing the metal spring. Do I have to use a lot of force? Kind of afraid of braking something

Best regards
