In this video I will show you how to replace upper and lower control arms in your Jeeps front axle. This process is very similar to other vehicle models but today I will show you how to do it on a Jeep Cherokee XJ with a Dana 30 Axle. This process may be similar on other Jeep axles such as the Dana 44 and Jeep models such as the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Comanche. I will show you how to do the whole job from start to finish. If you have any questions that the video does not cover make sure to leave them below.

Hey, I have an easier way to do this. Lmk if you want me to explain.
Are both the the bushings you got from rockauto for the axle side? Like is the kit of just the axle side bushings? Also your videos are VERY HELPFUL thank you for the work you put into them!
What led you to change these items? Just wondering.
I think I'm just going to change the lowers for now! LOL Everything on my 96 grand cherokee has to be cut, torched or pressed off it's killing this old man! Thanks for the video very helpful
"You can go ahead and" freeze the bushings in your freezer overnight and they slide right in the next morning.
Thank you so much for this video, it is exactly what I was looking for. You gave every bit of detail needed, thanks again.
My old bushing just fell out.. went to put the new one in on the passenger side and the hole isn’t snug 🙁 do I need a new bracket welded on??
Instead of a file, how about Emory Cloth/Sand Paper perhaps to clean off the rust?
Why the fuck wouldnt they just create the bushing in the control arms as they do in the lower. Such choad lickers
What strength were the bolts?
Nice video!
My control arms need replacing very helpful video Austin thank you
where is your GF's dad's jeep project???
This is the only channel i see every single parts on XJ changing videos in a raw. keep it up
wtf, this is just what I needed! Love this channel
Many Thanks for the how to video
I'm not looking forward to it
Having just gone through this headache – I 100% recommend renting from your local big box hardware store an electric/power hammer (listed as demolition hammer at mine) and the smallest chisel they have available. That thing takes a little maneuvering in the small area, but get the chisel onto the old bushings (be careful, I marred up one of my mounts, not bad, but still) and it makes a week and a half of off-and-on frustration and failure into 5 minutes worth of work, no exaggeration. So worth the $50 or so if you can spare it.
Good video… don’t know if I need them but being as the car is 21 years old I’m guessing eventually I’ll need em!
It is going to brake just get ajustable control arms
I did all four arms on my ‘96 Xj- was kind of a bitch. It’ll help to soak them with penetrating oil well in advance of the job. Put the new ones in the freezer (if you are reusing same arms)before pressing them in✅
I advise against using polyurethane bushings—WAY to unforgiving with vibration. Stick with OEM.
Nice, I have a 6in lift on my XJ…no slip yoke aliminator yet…how do you think it will do? I'v dropped the transfer case 1in.
for your control arm bushings you may want to invest in miller tool 8836. it's worth it.
Nice job Austin. Are you going to keep this one all stock?
OutJeeping videos are why I exist!
