How To Install a Spare Tire Carrier On A Jeep Wrangler JLU Rubicon!

How To Install a Spare Tire Carrier On A Jeep Wrangler JLU Rubicon!

I know, I know, I know. Everyone has been asking about this spare tire carrier we have been running for about a month now. Well finally, here is the installation video! I officially give you the Motobilt Tire Carrier!

Since we were running a pre-production version, we wanted to give Motobilt the chance to be totally ready with production and to take orders or answer any questions (hence the delay for the video upload).

You can see how it’s held up offroad and on the trail by watching just about any of our videos over the last three weeks!

And you can check out the tire carrier for yourself using the link below –

Ray Walkerdine says:

All these people making father-daughter comments are just jealous. Love is the most important thing, not a persons age.

Real_Talk 816 says:

I’ve been watching since you first got your Jeep. And then they bought it back and gave you another Jeep. (Or however that went down).
My question is before I pull the trigger on my JL, what issues have you had ? Have you broke anything? I know you have upgraded many things but did you ever break anything or have any major issues?

Wayne Garner says:

those welds are horrible. I would think moto built and jeep owners would take more pride in their stuff. especially after spending so much time in design and CNC Cutting. the welds simply kill all of their effort.

Jubeidono2012 says:

Nice ride. Its only a matter of time, California will ban Jeeps in their State.

jasonj411 says:

Love me some Motobilt. Representing Alabama! Woot!

Marc Sachs says:

I see holes to mount a Hi-Lift Jack on that carrier! It's a great Jeep Beach flag pole.

Dak Berardelli says:

the Motobilt tire carrier looks great.

Tim Wilson says:

Nice video is the tail pipe crushed for a reason. Keep em coming.

soctnights says:

At the start. 00:55 seconds, a spare Brittany with optional beer, that would sell well. Great video guys.

ohiofjr says:

do I understand that you have to remove the trim panel and unplug the wires to get the 3rd brake light and license plate light off in order to get the spare off? I hope I missed something there. But good info either way. I just placed and order for a JLU Rubicon and I was able to add a heavy duty spare tire mount from Jeep to my order, hope it can hold a heavier than stock spare tire.

2 Cents says:

What's with all the father daughter "jokes". Are these friendly pokes… or jealousy? I think Kevin may be older?; but not disproportionately so.

dean doucet says:

Love your channel. Keep up the great work. Hello from Nova Scotia!!!!

Fred Morris says:

Sorry Kevin. Previous comment removed.

joed596 says:

That foam tape was a great idea. Also, adjusting the tailgate slightly higher so the weight of the tire would bring it down to the right height was brilliant. 🙂 Do you know what the maximum weight the stock tailgate can hold is? I think I heard somewhere it is 80lbs? Thanks and thumbs up, Joe

Justin King says:

you're absolutely right the bumper mounted swing gates stick the tire out much farther than that mount. though on my JK it gave me room to mount a couple communication antennas. i like that kit for the JLs though!!

Nathan Flowers says:

Do you guys use all 5 tires when doing rotations?

GT32004 says:

Nice, I would only recommend installing a sealed quick disconnect, 1 for both wire outside between the tailgate and rack, you will cry if you need to get access to your spare
