Older post, but so helpful. I parked on an upwards hill. Changed out the pulley and water pump in less than 30 minutes. Break the bolts on the pulley before releasing the belt. Very straight forward job. Release the struts for the hood (bonnet) and put it into the fully forward service position. This provides full access to the pulley and th e water pump. Thanks for the help in the USA. The shop wanted $950. It's a DIY for under $200.00.

Tino Vaj says:

hello, I have put a new pump and the pulley rubs against the screws of the new pump. any advice?

Arturo Sanz says:

Hi Damian, I own an early model (VIN# 1390) and never changed the water pump. The pump is working properly, but I would like to change it for a new one. I followed the instructions, removed the pulley and the 5 long bolts too, but… it's impossible to detach the pump from the engine block. It's stuck. Any suggestion on how to detach it safely?

Bernard Pullon says:

Am I correct in thinking you did this with the radiator off (maybe a silly question)? If so, is it doable with it still in place? Thanks again, your videos are very generous.

Robert Bongiovanni says:

How can you tall if it is original pump somebody told me if the gasket is metal it is original is that true?

David Udall says:

Good tutorial. Is it worth back flushing the heater core?

Edd Adams says:

Thank you very much for this and all your videos.

Eric Tavares says:

Thanks for the video! Do you need to remove the radiator fan first or is there room?

todd roman says:

what is your opinion on the drain plug on the side of the block, would you not recommend removing it to remove all coolant. , im interested why the workshop manual mentions it in places but not when it says how to drain the system. i must admit i have not studied the whole manual (pdf) . thanks again for your channel

TheTelinfo64 says:

Hi very nice job mate, i have a strange issue with my xk8 1998 , i have an coolant odour under the bonnet when the engine hot and i have the cooling level error during large acceleration , i can't see any leak , any idea ?

Andork Kuomo says:

Now if someone would only do a video on the R models.

alexander thegreat says:

Great!! Thanks. It would be great to have the long version rather than a mini tutorial for slow learner like me! Hehe. Thanks a lot

Mirage Productions says:

In the States the orange coolant is called Dexcool, and green is Glycol. Mix them and you get a gel like substance. That was the first job I did on my XK8. I also replaced all the plastic parts with aluminium, and replaced the cap on the recovery tank. My original impeller was plastic also.
