Never use anything other than fully synthetic 0w 40 that what jaguar uk say. Never use diesel oil never ever mineral oil 20w50.

Oil for 4L SC engine is 20/50 Valvoline Standard grade, she gently eats oil. No smoke out of engine; however, it is known issue, even has a specification for the amount lost per/ x miles.

Debating about a purchase. Is 2004 XJR dependable at 90k+ miles? Per carfax, transmission replaced by a reputable shop at 90k but regular dealer services done throughout. Thanks!

Ran one of these for 5 years, way better than the V8 would howl up to the 155 limiter. Essentially a super strong simple 6 cylinder engine that took well to supercharging, I happen to know they always exceeded the dyno figures in test. The super charger whine with the 6 pot was always addictive, kickdown was electric. Second best car ive ever owned to my Tesla Model S
