How To DIAGNOSE and REPLACE a BAD CLOCKSPRING on an Infiniti G35

Today I replaced the clockspring in my 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe! I had the airbag light on with ASCD switch open circuit code. My steering wheel controls and horn did not work. My turning signals also were affected by the clock spring. If you have a DTC scanner that can clear an airbag light then you can do this entire process at home!

Thank you for the video. I unboxed it and said nope. But then I saw how easy it was and mission accomplished. I liked how you went through it step by step.

Alex Rangel says:

Where did you get your clockspring replacement part ?

Great video…one question I have before I do mine is how many lb ft of torque did you use when reinstalling the wheel? Thanks

Sheila Bell says:

Great video…only thing is you didn't test the horn after you replaced the spring…that's the issue I'm having.

6:08 … Public service announcement: DO NOT DISCONNECT THAT WHITE PLUG(steering sensor)!!! That's why Aaron had to go to the dealer to clear that airbag code. Also, sometimes it also shows VDC OFF, Slip and SRS light if you disconnect the white plug (steering sensor) because it thinks you are doing circles instead of going straight. Just remember to make sure that the steering wheel is as straight as it can be before starting the job. After the steering disassembly, when removing the old clockspring, ONLY disconnect the YELLOW and the GREY plug and leave the other part attached to the white plug(steering sensor) and install the new clockspring. Trust me guys, I've done several clocksprings replacement on 2 G's I've had and leaving the white plug(steering sensor) is the right way to go if you want everything to go smooth as silk.

I have a 2008 Maxima. Changed my clock spring. Got my Engine light go away and got all my buttons working on my steering wheel. But my horn is not working. Any suggestions?

Chris Alvarado says:

debating if I should do this labor on my own or get it done for a good price

Jay Wisniewski says:

Can I have the part number?

WongFilmz says:

Doesn’t the clock spring cause VDC and SLIP light to come on sometimes too? Or is the false from the forums

rudy lopez says:

Would an 04 350z one work on an 04 g35 coupe

Sean says:

Your friend with the maxima need less thug life wheels. A set of 350z anniversary or z33 nismo wheels would look nice.

Cody Hawkins says:

does the horn still work if the clock spring is out? i’m getting a steering angle sensor code and the airbag code i have is for the passenger side

Sean Algrim says:

My volume buttons work intermittently so I do appreciate the video. No other good videos out there for the G
