Scotty, Great video, easy to understand. Keep em coming man. I have a
question too, I have an 11 year old Mercury Mountaineer and was ready to
change the shock absorbers but the lower bolts (On the front shocks) seem
like they’re almost welded in place making them tuff to slide out. I’m
pretty sure it’s rust that has them frozen in place. I’ve tried a few
products to loosen them: WD-40, Liquid wrench and others but they haven’t
helped. Anyone know of any good way to loosen those bolts up enough to
slide them out? Thanks

This guy’s the best. Videos, language, and solutions are practical and
simple. Makes engine work look like child’s play. Good job dude,

RAF Systems UK says:

when i start my megane from the passenger side at the front, under the
windscreen area and above the glove box, I hear a whining noise with
several thud like noises, as those something is trying to spin or kick in
but getting stuck. After about 5 seconds the noise stops. When I stop
engine and slam my door shut i hear a thud noise in the same area. What
could this be. Someone said it might be heating.

I have a slight oil leak from the oil pan on my 2002 Saturn SL1. Not
serious..but you cannot replace the gasket without pulling the engine

Scotty I have a 2000 camry with 139k miles that blows smoke out of exhaust
pipe at each cold startup. Since it does that it burns my oil and I have to
pour a little bit of new oil into engine every few weeks to replace the
burnt oil. One mechanic told me it is the engine valve seal that is causing
the smoke and he says it will cost me a whole lot of benjamins to get it
fix. Please tell what you think may be the culprit. Thanks I learn a lot
from watching your videos, keep it up Scotty!

evan upton says:

Hi Scott,
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT with almost 165K miles on it. Recently,
I had my oil changed and the service tech said that my valve cover gaskets
are leaking. I don’t see any oil on my driveway and I don’t smell any
burning oil when driving, so I don’t know if this is really a serious
problem or not. The service tech gave me an estimate of $170 (parts) and
$284 (labor) to replace the valve cover gasket set. I plan on driving the
car another 2 years at the most, so I don’t know if I should even bother
with the repair. What do you think I should do? Thank you.

I have a 2004 Kia Sorento and it smokes under the hood near the exhaust
manifold where it meets with the pipe (where a couple sensors are) on the
drivers side. The smoke comes and goes, one minute its smoking and the next
its not then it comes back. It smokes at idle and while driving. I checked
the gaskets of the valve cover and its dry. It seems to be oil leaking on
it just don’t know from where and why. Also checked the exhaust at the rear
and its all clear (real clean actually) so the smokes not coming from the
exhaust itself. I also have an A/C clutch problem too but let do one at a
time. Please help thanks.

Jason Andes says:

Scotty I have a 2003 Mazda Protege5 auto with 150k miles. I was wondering
if city rush hour highway traffic burns more oil typically than that of say
highway driving steady at 70-75mph? My car typically goes through about
1qt of oil in between oil changes, but recently it seems to burn a bit
more. I have as of late done a lot of stop and go driving in rush hour
traffic. Otherwise car runs strong with no issues it’s proving to be a
strong engine and transmission. I’m just trying to keep it going! Your
advice is always appreciated. Jason

hey scotty i got a 03 cadillac cts 3.2 v6, i’ve already taken off the cam
covers and removed the spark plugs, i see in this video about oil getting
down in the piston area.
1st question is: will i need sealant for my cam covers(i did notice that
previous repair they did use sealant)
2nd question is: i’m pretty sure i’ve gotten oil down in the piston area by
removing the spark plugs, so what should i do before putting it back
together. thanks in advance
