amazing !!! the diagnosis and the parts were right, and the video walked me
thru the repair. I have never worked on a dryer before, and now it’s fixed,
the hi pitched screeching is gone and I didn’t have to buy a new dryer.
Thank you Partselect

Judy Chandlee says:

Woowee finally got it done! Thanks for the video. It me quite awhile,
mostly because the screws were very hard to get out. And the hardest part
was getting the front panel back on. Just glad it’s done and working!

David Jacobson says:

I just used this video to figure out how to remove a button that got wedged
in between the drum and the front panel. Thanks so much! I’ll definitely be
back to your site when I need parts!

Tracy Garrett says:

ok..my dryer started making noise the longer it ran….seemed to be coming
from the back of the machine. It was still drying fine…but he noise
concerned me. And as a single woman on a limited budget I thought I would
see if I could fix my dryer myself….I found several videos on dryer
repair then found this one for my exact dryer! Amazing Video! So I go in to
tackle the job alone….got the bearing stuff out and ran to Lowes to get
the part…to find out they don’t carry the parts! I had to order it
online! (so be sure you don’t have wet laundry in the washer cause you will
have to take it to a friends house to dry while you wait a couple days for
the part) 🙂 So I got the part and put it back together. Turned the dryer
on and sounded great! So hopefully I have taken care of the problem for
less than $30!! THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO!!

Richard Santivong says:

Hi Steve, do you carry the plastic piece that guide the top of the drum on
2:10 min mark?
I would need the said piece for a Frigidaire FGR231AS3. thanks. Richard

elspofamilia says:

STEVE!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! just finished and it runs beautifully, and more
importantly: QUIETLY!!!

Ray Krueger says:

Quick question the ball bearing that is in the back what is the purpose for
it and everytime you turn the dryer on isn’t supposed to move

Mike Morgan says:

Thanks! You probably saved me hundreds of dollars!!!!

I think you’re going to tick off a lot of appliance repairmen. So about a
week ago I started hearing this high pitched noise coming from my dryer. I
didn’t want to pay another $250 repair cost for a $300 dryer so I went to
PartSelect and 49% of the replies said the noise was going to be this Rear
Drum Bearing assembly. Was only $29.00 with shipping and after watching
your video it seemed easy enough to do so I went for it. I was so proud of
myself that I successfully replaced it as your vid shows. But….the noise
was still there! Thanks to what you showed me about how easy it is to
navigate my way through the dryer, I did some poking around and eventually
found a 4″ x 10″ x 2mm piece of styrofoam in the fan blower assembly. As
the blades went around the foam at high speed they created the whirr
sound. I was able to pull it out with my fingers and fix the sound very
easy. I consider this a $29 tutorial on how to fix a dryer really, so
thanks! By the way, is there any way that styrofoam is supposed to be in
the fan blower?

Adam Orth says:

Thank you. Clear instructions, great filming and awesome tips. Well done.

George Scheuermann says:

Awesome indeed!! Probably saved $150. Cleaned out POUNDS of lint, I think.
Emptied the shop vac twice! Video was right on. Probably saved $150. $35
in parts and an hour of my time. Runs like new! Purrs…..

RachelBass1 says:

Thanks Steve! You’re my new BFF. I can’t believe I got it all apart and
back together and it works! But, you totally should’ve cleaned out that
fuzz from the bottom! Mine was super full, I’m almost glad it squealed so
obnoxiously! Thanks for the video!

Leonard Dow says:

Wow. That was easy. You just saved me! Thank you.

Kip Kasper says:

Great instructions! Thanks for taking the time to make them, it’s why I
choose PartSelect over your competitors.

ROBERT RAMOS says:

Thanks so much. Beats buying a new dryer.

surfsupl says:

@kb7010 Thanks so much for your great feedback! We are so happy that our
video was so helpful for you!

BMWLDRider says:

Thanks for the instructional video. The tip on pre-threading the drum
support bearing was a life saver as was the tip on how to snap the drum out
of the old bearing race.. Wife is happy now!!!

PartSelect says:

@niceonya3 – Thanks for your suggestion about removing the dryer drum.

PartSelect says:

@TVF8 We love hearing about people’s repair stories so thank you for taking
the time and sharing yours. Glad the dryer is back up and running again.
All the best in your future repairs.

lmontero15 says:

Thank you for the video. It made it sooo easy to install. I would have
killed myself trying to thread the bearing in place.

jonsmilburn says:

Great Video! Nice camera work/lighting, good quality. You really saved me.
I would just define “snug” when you tighten the first screw. You want it
tight enough to hold, but loose enough to move the part to line up the
other holes for remaining screws. Thanks again!

doug3960 says:

saved me hundreds on repair and replacement. Thanks
