It sounds like a reset problem, i had them before too, read over the instructions carefully, its happen to me also because i did not reset the motor right. Make sure your door is close from step one or if you do it with the door open have someone hold down the switch thing on the body door frame that activates the window air seal. Good luck though bro, sorry it didnt work out.

filosofo tacio says:

but then when I roll it all the way down then up again it does that it doesn’t fully close when in auto or manually closing it. I’ll probably hang on to it for a while longer, before exchanging it, might even try and clean the old one, anyway thanks!

filosofo tacio says:

got the motor from autozone, i knew that the cardone was refurbished, but was told that the doorman was new that’s why I got it. as far as resetting it, with the door opened I close the window all the way up, then close the door, press the reset button and roll the window down all the way (manually). release the reset button and roll the window all the way up (manually). open the door and everything works like it supposed to with the window moving up and down slightly when the door is opened…

George Morales says:

But these are the only 2 things you should be looking at, bad motor or bad re-set. To be honest with you it sounds like a bad re-set, but look into these 2 things.

George Morales says:

I know exactly what you mean. I can only think of 2 things that can be wrong, Either youre re-setting it wrong or you got a bad motor. If you bought your motor at the dealer then youre re-setting it wrong but if you got your motor at the local auto part store it might be the motor, the motors that they sell at the dealer are brand new and the ones at the local auto part store are refurbish thats why they have warranty and sometimes come faulty.

filosofo tacio says:

hey so I changed the motor and did the reset via the link provided several times, but each time the windows would work normal, then it would go up the go half way down on its own. kept resetting and it kept doing the same thing. any ideas?

George Morales says:

No problem bro.

filosofo tacio says:

hey thanks a lot!

George Morales says:

Tools: Vise grips, Phillips screwdriver, Socket set and the Link on part 3 of this video on how to reset the window motor, pretty simple. If you want send me a PM with your email and ill send you a pic on where i placed the vise grips. Hope this helped you out, let me know if you have more questions. Thanks for watching.

George Morales says:

I used vice grips to clamp the window down, I placed a rag over the window then clamped over the rag so i wouldnt damage the glass but anything and anyway that you can get the window to hold up will work, this is just the way i did it. I placed the vice grips just above the door panel on the glass on the opposite side of the side mirror so incase your window came down on you after taking the motor off the clamp will hit the door panel keeping the glass from crashing down on you.

filosofo tacio says:

where did you place clamps for window? what other tools did you use?

George Morales says:

That should get your window motor going again just enough to bring the window up again for a while. Dont worry you wont break your window, dont give up on it, if you do it right your window should go up again, trust me i been there and done that, good luck i hope this will help you out.

George Morales says:

I suggest the window should be up because you use your window to align the window regulator bolt holes to the inner door panel. If you watch part 3 you can see when im aligning the inner door panel to the window regulator by using the window, with the window down it will be difficult to align the holes, but if you can do it go for it. You say your window is stuck on down position, TIP: TURN CAR ON, HOLD WINDOW SWITCH ON THE UP POSITON, WITH A HAMMER FIST BANG AWAY WHERE THE WINDOW MOTOR IS PLACE

m0ka4ever says:

in the start of the video you suggest that the window should be already up but what if my window is stuck at the bottom am I still able to take off the panel without breaking the glass?

George Morales says:

Where did you purchase the window motor? If you bought at your local auto parts store the window motors are usually refurbish and not brand new so i would go back and get another, if you purchased the motor at the dealer they are usually brand new so then it might be something and not the window motor.

I replaced my G35 passenger’s window motor using this video. Thanks for posting this George! However, the window still wont go up and I don’t know what to do… after installing the new one, when pressing up, I can see the window move a bit and that is it. Any advice?

George Morales says:

Awesome! Thanks for watching bro.

blackspade36 says:

Hey man you saved my life. Infiniti wanted to charge me $500 to fix the motor. Granted it litterally took me the whole night to do it for various reasons, I just wanted to give you credit for helping me do this with your videos. Thanks!

George Morales says:

Thats awesome! Thanks and Thanks for watching.

myhafh says:

Thank you for this video, just did the motor swap on my G35 and with the help of this video and a diagram online everything seems to have gone smoothly. this video def helps explain what to do on a G35 whereas the instructions that came with my new motor did not! Keep posting helpful videos like this so people can save a little money on minor repairs if they are willing to get a little hands on.

It is what it is. Thanks for watching.

damn thats alot of work…i used to own a 1994 maxima and that motor went on me too..it was a bit difficult to change but this is even worse.i think this is worth letting a shop do ..but not a dealership.my passenger motor went on me 2 months ago and my cd player sucks ass..replacing both..its ashame infinti fucked up by using crappy radios and window motors in such a beautiful car.no way a person should have to change a window motor 3 times.

cazares85a says:

I couldn’t put up my window ib my car and while watching this video I seen that u said to hit the door while pushing the up button lol and it work haha u saved me 50 bucks to take to a place so they can put it up haha

George Morales says:

My window was also stuck on the down position and thats what i did to make it go up while i replaced the window motor. I had the same problem minus the bad regulator cables.

George Morales says:

Yes it happens to everyone who has a bad window motor, but if your regulator cables are about to give maybe you will need to change both the regulator and window motor. Your window wont go up? Try this: Since you know where the placement of the window motor is with the door assemble hit the inside of the door panel with a hammer fist around the area where the window motor is placed while holding up the window switch and this will get your window to go up.

TheFrancoke says:

Hi, I have the same window problem with my 350Z but the window won’t go up at all. I have read many many posts and I really think the regulator seem to be the problem. I toke the door panel off and look inside the door and the regulator wires are in a really bad shap, almost cut off. I know most posts are about the motor problems but I don’t think its my case since my window can’t even go up 5 inches… Is that happened to anyone? Tks

George Morales says:

If someone is trying to tell you that it might be the Regulator they are most likely wrong, 99% of the time its the window motor. When i first had my problem i also heard the same thing but i did my research and found out that 99% of the time its the window motor and in my case and others it was.

George Morales says:

Im not a mechanic so ill try to explain it the best i can. The Regulator is the mechanism that slides your window up and down, the window motor is what you attach to the regulator so it can make it slide/go up and down. On the second video you can see the regulator, its the 2 metal plates that you see inside the door panel on each end in a vertical position.

largo925 says:

What the diffrence between a window motor and a regulator?

George Morales says:

Make sure that regulator you found for a good price comes with lifetime warranty otherwise your gonna find yourself paying for a new one each time it breaks on you because i guarantee it wont be the last time this happens to you. Hope everything works out for you, Thanks for watching!
