Good attempt but wrong. This is a turbo. Please hunt youtube vids for installing catch can on turbo models. Boostedmiata has a channel with a good example.

Did ur light come on?
Your "in" went to the pcv valve. And you will have to remove your catch can to empty it…
I just recently changed my air intake filter and pvc valve and it had oil and gunk from blow by. This catch can would definitely help but I live in california where they make up stupid emission laws and this would definitely fail the test.
