Shelia Balthazar says:

mine is also a 2010 Sonata

Andrea Williams says:

Same here, on the 3rd broken handle in a matter of 3 months, if it didn’t
cost so much it would be comical. I know this is of little to no help, but
I bought a handle and had a local body shop paint and put it on. Around
$125 total. Haven’t done the 3rd one yet but I may as well go ahead and
buy 2 because inevitably the 4th is going soon.

Jason Coffman says:

Yep this just happened to my girlfriends car this past weekend. I called
the dealership and it would be around $250.00 to replace. The part was only
$30 but it needed to be painted ($100) and then service ($100) to replace
it for me. So tax and all $250. No said anything about a warranty or
recall.

justin liston says:

ive managed to have two door handles break on me on my sonata the past 2
weeks. drivers door and back right door handle.

Shelia Balthazar says:

I really thought that my fiance didn’t know his own strength..my two back
door handles are broken off within a couple of weeks. Now I understand that
this is Hyundai’s fault. I’m going to a dealership tomorrow to see what
they will say…

carmelo1966 says:

This just happens to my wife 2010 sonata. So there’s obviously a problem
with the handles on this cars. Let’s get together and sue so they fix them
without us have to pay for it.

vonniesegster says:

Add me to the list, my rear passenger handle on my 2010 Hyundai Sonata
(29,000 miles on it and we rarely use the back doors) came off a few months
ago. The dealership wants $250 to replace it. $100 of that is to paint it
to match my car! I was told the part is $38. and $100 to install.

Bob Weinstein says:

happened to me as well. . .only one handle so far (2010)…65,000
miles…just like the poster of the video

Sara Gold says:

We lost 2 handles. It costs 75 per handle, plus they charge separate for
paint.

Carlos Gomez says:

does anyone have a video on how to install a new handle yourself?

Megan Harman says:

Just lost the driver door handle on my Tiburon…. $257…. will never have
another Hyundai

ladeebeekay says:

I’m so fucking. I look like an idiot climbing through my car to open my
damn door! Then to top it off I have to pay for their error….I’m trading
this plastic piecr of shit in as soon as you can say door handle…

mjw2440 says:

Happened to me yesterday. Hyundai dealer won’t stand behind it. They want
$350 to replace one handle. Never buying a Hyundai again.

maidenlover1 says:

both rear door handles broke off my 2010 sonata! Very poor quality part
wont buy another sonata! accords cost the same now with better quality…

jmanfrate says:

I had just called hyundai customer service at 855-671-3059. She had told me
if enough people call and complain that there can be a recall. If everyone
on here calls in and complains and gets a claim number, and has more
hyundai owners call in something can be done !! I have a 1 year old so
being able to get into my car is essential. Both my rear handles are now
broken. Also it is quite pricey to get them replaced :/ I’ve been searching
for cheaper door handle assemblies to just do it myself but I’m only
finding the handle itself not w the assembly I did try after market and had
no luck.

Van De Sok says:

I have a 2007 Sonata. Drivers door handle broke. Local dealer wants $250 to
replace. Never buy another Hyundai

Brandon Boles says:

Same thing with my 2010 Hyundai Sonata the back door handles break off
because their plastic I’ve already had to buy two and it feels like I’m
going to have to buy more because they’re made out of plastic

Diane Sizemore says:

Both rear handles on my 2007 Sonata broke off within a week of each other!
I’ve also had the electronic panel in the driver’s door go out about 6
months ago (replaced that), and now the passenger’s window motor has gone
out. The driver’s side visor broke and had to be replaced, and they had a
recall for the passenger seat sensor for airbags…one thing after another.
Never buying another Hyundai!!

betty prokos says:

See my info. below to other owners with same problem. The dealers will
insult UR intelligence to get rid of U.See my posts below.Follow the
instructions. Hyundai has a 5yr. bumper to bumper warranty they must honor.

Savannah Bennett says:

We have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata and same thing! They definitely need to do a
recall and fix our vehicles. So far it is only my driver side door but it’s
quite inconvenient to crawl over the passenger seat or reach around from
the back to open my door. Especially when I’m usually carting around to
kiddos.

betty prokos says:

SEE my response below.U are under the 5 yr. bumper to bumper warranty.
Follow the steps below. The dealer must fix.

Joe Hilferty says:

Same thing on passenger rear of my wife’s 2006 Sonata. If someone finds a
video on how to replace them, please post a link here. Dealer wants around
$40 for a primered replacement plus $120 for painting. $150 not including
labor for installation is disgraceful for a chitty plastic handle.

Sean Neiber says:

Same here. Broke the handle off the drivers door this morning on my 2007
Sonata. I just pulled it right off. I tried to put it back in but it was
kind of tight and I ended up breaking it again. Im now have to open the
drivers door through the passenger side.

ricardocarrega says:

I’m buying an extra door handle and I will try to replace it using this
video. I’ll let you guys know if it works. Video: watch?v=WiMBXAI8DPg

MrB4math says:

I have had two of the handles break on my 2010 Hyundai Sonata as well. I
“fixed” by taking off the interior panel and the metal panel that sits
behind it, retrieving the broken piece from within the door (many swear
words) and gluing back together with JB Weld. Prior to gluing, I drilled
into each side and inserted a short piece of bicycle spoke for rigidity.
That worked for half a year or so, then they broke again. I may try
purchasing new or used this time. Surely, it’s a poor design.

Johnny Rosa says:

I could go on and on about the issue of this car just stay away from
Hyundai.and oh yes I forgot to mention about the great warrantied do not
believe it they are full of crap this warranty does not cover anything they
are there to steal your money and you going to fall under that trap.for now
on I will stick with Toyota Honda Nissan sorry guys but I just needed to
vent out I cannot believe this happened really I cannot believe this
happened I am trading this car right away

betty prokos says:

Go to CAR GEEK.com and order METAL door handles by make & model $34..If U
have to pay for them, get metal handles. No painting needed. Won’t fall
apart. B.P.83

ricardocarrega says:

Exactly the same thing here… Driver’s door handle broke and I’m having to
get inside from the passenger’s side to get in. How did you manage to get
yours fixed? Any recommendations?

Jordan Winsten says:

Happened to two of my doors as well same color same model. I thought the
first one maybe someone tried to break in and broke it but the 2nd time it
happened today.
