Hummer H3 Rear Shock Install

Hummer H3 Rear Shock Install

I’m using Pro Comp ES9000 Series Shocks and this is a good DIY job for the novice. You don’t even have to jack up the rear end of the Hummer H3. But don’t forget to set the emergency brake and block the tires. The toughest part may be removing the rusty bolts out of the top of the old shocks. Just spray them down with WD-40 ahead of time and they’ll come right out.

Assembling the shock can be a little tricky too, but if you follow the write-up there’s an easy way – file the rough edges of the t-bar, spray it with silicone so it will slide in and use a bench vise to press the t-bar into the bushing. Once it’s in half way, you can use a block of wood and hammer to center it.

Pro Comps are stiff, but they aren’t expensive and they won’t leak. I think it’s a good fit for the H3. Mine are going strong after wheelin’ and daily use. Many H3 owners don’t like them and use Bilstein 5100 Series Shocks. They provide a good ride and get good reviews.

Proсomp very bad shock. Winter in Russia they have me dead in 1 week !!! Frost was -30 degrees, and they flowed. In the end, I put the original shock and forgot about the problem.
