I have done all my homework on the rav4 cx-5 and CR-v. I was 3 days away from buying the CR-V touring for my wife when I found this. I am a long time Toyota customer with a 2013 Corolla S and a 2017 Highlander Limited now in my garage. I can't tell you how disappointed I was to learn this because the Honda has it over the Rav4 and CX-5. I'll keep looking around. Thanks for the info

Rob Watt says:

I am a big time Honda person, this 2016 CRV is my third Honda in a row. All from the same dealer. However I am worried about the direct injection system. The main concern is the PCV breather system and the intake valves in the engine. I see Toyota has a dual system, which is much better, keeps the valves clean. Does Honda have a fix for this?

travelingThrew says:

I wonder if this will hurt my trade in value when I take my 2018 CRV into Toyota for a Rav 4. I better bring the Vasoline and practice holding my breath.

Joe Ramos says:

As a new owner of a 2018 Honda CR-V EX, the American Honda Co needs to provide fix for all 2017 & 2018 CRV 1.5 Turbo owners. We don’t want to end up with a failing engine after the 3 yr basic warranty of 36k miles or 36 mo whichever comes first. And further documentation whether this particular 1.5T engines with noted problems are going to be covered under the Power Train warranty. We payed to much money to not cover all Honda CRV owners. Otherwise, we should file a class action suit for faulty product.

Sangmin Lee says:

Honda included only those states because those are small states.

Paul Gaudet says:

I find it hard to believe that in this day of modern computerized fuel injection with all its sensors that enough gas does not burn in the combustion chamber to create this crankcase problem. I still think they have a number of leaking injectors out there that seep past the rings when the engine is off. This might explain for the amount of gas found in some oil. But then that would be a much more expensive fix for Honda.

Miriam Vivo says:

Got to be more than just a software fix que pasa aqui?

Miriam Vivo says:

Information much appreciated I was getting a 2019 crv for my wife but decided o the 2019 toyota rav

美光伍 says:

As I have known that this dilution issue is happen to 1.5T with low outside temperature. And it almost never found with good or normal temperature.
I have never heard that issue in My country, Indonesia.
So Honda would be pay more attention for extremely weather for some countries that probably missed while designed. This should be make Honda be better and better for the future. I hope from this experience Honda would built great engine for the next generation.

Danny Boy says:

We have a 2016 Civic with the 1.5L engine in Canada. I am glad that it will be fixed.

motoklx says:

what about Washington state it is a fucking cold state??????

William Allen says:

Have only ever purchased GM for years. Was actually considering buying a 2019 CR-V. Not sure now.

Joe D says:

What about the premature wear to the internal engine components due to operating with diluted lubrication. I think a pro-rated refund or car replacement is in order. Honda has really mssed the mark with the squirrely operating CVT transmission and now who knows how well these turbos will hold up. Think my next purchase will be Toyota. Just saying.

Rick Believes says:

Truly pathetic all around. Any of these cars in warm climates could travel through or end up in cold climates eventually. What the hell is Honda thinking ?

The Flying Dutchman says:

I’m sorry this is happening to you. Honda (again) is aware of an issue to which it poorly responds.

Steve Franklin says:

Honda knows it has such a strong fanboy following , that even if these engines seize up 1 mile past the warranty, they will still declare Honda's are the best cars, and still buy another. Their loyalty to the brand knows no boundaries. Crazy.

Norm T says:

"…Honda and Dongfeng Motor Group, includes free replacements of the air conditioning control unit and a software upgrade for the electronic control unit, besides replacing the motor oil, air filter and adding new engine cleanser. For models equipped with continuously variable transmissions, the recall will also provide a replacement of the bottom water pipe for the radiator, and a software upgrade for the transmission control unit. Industry insiders have questioned the real reason for the recall as both the water pipe and the air conditioning have little to do with engine lubricant." ChinaDaily

Norm T says:

Thanks for the update and the bulletins for Canada at 3:40.

Erich Schmidt says:

I'm switching to Toyota. Shame on you for not including all the states Honda

Brech Kauffman says:

Live in southern, Georgia already have the problem. Sad Honda failed to notify owners of this problem so we could have begun to pay attention to oil level and fuel contamination.

Chuck Ashton says:

Even if Honda can fix this fuel into oil dilution problem. I wonder how much damage is being done to engine internals due to diluted oil. It is 0w20 how much fuel will it take before the oil stops lubricating properly? My thought is these cars will be seeing damage down the line from this. I bet Honda is hoping that happens after the warranty has expired. Good luck Honda owners.

Rippy 888 says:

…this.. Is dr. Goonto zuloft, did he solves uncle Carmichaels koshu to conjection?

Robert Bryant says:

Not a fix that is acceptable! I live in Missouri and my Honda is not scheduled to be fixed. This is not even a cold 2eather issue. My dilution happened in the summer and I only drive long trips on the highway. Honda needs to recall these faulty engines on all the 1.5 liter turbos.

JOSE DOMINGUEZ says:

Shame shame on Honda still. Don’t know how to build a turbo engine they been doing it for years to many gadgets not enough quality so be it ppl keep buying it shame I think it’s a ford and Honda partners quality wise

Doug says:

Has anyone considered driving to a state with the fix? I don't live too far from Iowa. It would be an easy drive for me.
