George Everett says:

Keep up the good work ! Had that problem

juan ridge says:

I have a gcv 200 but it has nuts that hold the air filer box on. So when I take them off only the box comes off. The black plastic piece that the thermowax sits behind doesn't come off. Any suggestions?

Daniel Ferris says:

If i have replaced that and it stays open whats the next step?

reginald Small says:

Is there a thermo wax cartridge on a hRR216VXA ?

Joe Friday says:

Thanks very much.

tksnow says:

This fixed my problem perfectly, but it only worked for one time. The next week, the same problem and the new cartridge has the pin sticking out again. Any ideas on why it would do that so easily after one run?

Sweet Lou says:

If this part has failed would it cause a no to hard hot start issue? I've wracked my brain, eliminated carb, fuel, plug and coil.

Jim Bond says:

I’ve looked at numerous videos without success. This gentleman got to the point. He enunciated his words so he could be understood and he showed a step-by-step clear process so you could see how the parts were assembled. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Jeffrey Stacy says:

I just paid a mechanic to fix this exact problem on my Honda. Frequently I learn by trial and error, mostly error. Now I know how to fix the issue for a lot less money.

Ted Ball says:

Thank you, sir! I appreciate this so very much. Exactly the symptoms with my own Honda mower. *You may pronounce the letter "Z" however you choose to*, by the way.
I also appreciate the part number listed in the description using lower-case letters to make sure to clearly indicate letters vs. numbers.

Bad Dad says:

Dony do you prefer the briggs auto choke set up or the Honda? Seems to me that the Honda is simpler but what do you think? Great video thank you.

Greg Ebel says:

Thanks. My Honda wasn't starting. I figured it had something to do with the choke and your video helped me get the right part and fix it. I'm good to go now.

Michael Speakman says:

I still don't know why they didn't make a better system that carburetor that's just way too many gaskets why didn't they use a stud system that had a nut on the end of it seemed to slide it over the end. Thanks for the information. I didn't know that part was even on a Honda

Karl Reinhart says:

In your video you can clearly see that the fuel cut off switch was turned to the off no fuel position. Causing your lawn mower not to start. You will later see in the video that when it starts he turned the switch to ON position allowing fuel into the mower.

Jonathan Wilson. says:

Thank you so much for this great video. This solved my problem and my HRX 217 starts on the first pull again. Thank you.

Asher Dog says:

I am having the opposit problem. The pin sticks out and the mower will start, but after it warms up the engine slows to an idle.

Anthony Catalanotto says:

I have the same set up on my Husqvarna mower. Same Honda motor. Choke works properly. My problem is once it comes off the mower starts to lean surge. Where am I looking for blockage? I took the screw out of top of carb and sprayed in there but no change. Took bowl off too and sprayed, nothing.

Scott Coffman says:

Great video as well as others you do! Mine is GCV160A0 with electric start and has been having the difficult to start problem since it was new at April 2019. It wasn't very bad at first but has gotten progressively worse such that it has to completely cool down to get it to start. I am meticulous about running 89 to 91 octane non-ethanol gas and keeping it very clean and I run out the gas in the carb at the end of the season before storing it for the winter. I have a four year warranty. I was under the assumption that this is a warranty issue. I even took it to an authorized Honda repair shop where I paid a $30 diagnostic fee believing Honda would reimburse for it as well as the other repair costs and parts. Unfortunately Honda will not warranty this part even though mine still has about two years of remaining warranty. The repair shop diagnosed that it is the thermowax part, but Honda claims it is a normal operating characteristic of the auto choke. Auto choke to me means the choke automatically adjust no matter what the temperature is. If I turn it off after getting to operating temperature and leave it for a several minutes it won't start. It tries to start and sometimes I have tricked it by moving the governor, but usually not successful. I am really bummed that Honda will not warranty this. Anyway, through my research it looks like the thermowax part number of 16620-Z8D-305 has been superseded to part number 16620-Z8D-842. Do you know if this is the case, and if so, is it because this new part number is an improved part such that it is more reliable? Thanks!

nick bisonni says:

Excellent! This was my exact problem and the solution worked – spot on!
Thank you for the diagnostic video and instructional on replacing this small part – the Thermowax Choke Actuator.

Çharles Bynum says:
