Possible blown fuse. The damaged wire could have possibly blown a fuse. Did
you check all the fuses after replacement? Also double check the wires in
the clip have proper connections. let me now

Thanks for the help. I found the wire to the impulse generator was damaged
so I replaced it. Problem is, after putting in a new impulse generator, I
am still having the same error code(1 long 9 short flashes of the FI
light). I unhooked the battery for about 20 minutes and hooked it back up,
same result…. I am stumped at this point. Any other thoughts?

Another update. I finally figured it out after watching your video in great
detail. A very stupid but easy mistake to make, I put the sensor on upside
down. Lesson learned. Thanks again.

Great tutorial, I used this while changing mine. Ran into a few problems
getting the cover back on but u just gotta play with it.

Edward Naso says:

It is possible to splice the wire if you know how, otherwise i would
recommend replacement. A new pulse generator will run about $35.00 i have
performed this procedure multiple times on multiple bikes and have never
ran into that problem. Let me know how you make out

39henning says:

Did you have to drain the oil first? Thanks for the video, this is going to
help me a ton.

Hey…Outstanding video. Very simple, very basic..no drawn out entrance
music. Thumbs up bud !!!!

39henning says:

After completing this and putting the my new cover on and adding oil, my
bike is displaying the FI light and will not start. After looking up the
code it gave me, ignition pulse generator. That is the piece that you
unhook around the 1:45 time. DId you have this issue? Do you know why this
error may have occurred?

Well done on the video man

Edward Naso says:

I’m sorry for all your troubles I suppose it is some of my fault with the
lack of zooming and specific details with regards. I’m glad you figured it
out! I’ll try to update the video with information regarding the problems
you experienced

Edward Naso says:

the wire in the video is indeed the “pulse generator”. First before going
any further trace the line out of the case cover and follow it about 12
inches where you will find a clip. make sure the clip did not get unplugged
when changing covers. If still you are incapable of starting. Remove the
cover again and check for proper installment and orientation of the sensor.
Make sure it wasn’t covered with the honda bond during installation as
well. Also check for wire damage

Edward Naso says:

I’m glad I could help out! I’m sorry for the lack of specifics this was 1
of my first videos. to answer your question, yes you most certainly have to
drain the oil before attempting otherwise there will be quite a mess. feel
free to ask any questions I’ll be more than happy to help you out.

39henning says:

To answer my own question, yes, you do need to drain the oil…
