So to be clear – all you have is the noise issue, but, what if when you turn the steering wheel and there is lots of resistance and glitched stepping feeling?

AC L’s niece says:

Notes to self:
Power steering gasket upper and entry
Power steering reservoir/filter screen
Power steering line
Then pump if needed.

I got whining while turning im hoping a fluid change will fix. The fluid isnt too low or leaking and PS functions fine so i dont think its the pump

Peter Foto says:

Do you need to change that O ring if it doesn't leak???? Not sure how replacing the O ring stops the pump noise if the old O ring is OK

Thanks for sharing this.

How long did you drive it before it started to quite down?

SomeGuyWithASubie says:

lube the o-rings first!

ORCA U14 Coach Tony says:

I find that the issue is not with the o-ring, but rather with the large return line from the reservoir. It gets hard with age and allows air into the pump. As you can see, the pump still made noise. If the o-ring was the issue, it would not do that. These repairs mask the real issue because everyone has to remove and reattach the suction hose which usually fixes it, but the noise comes back. Try the suction hose first. It is also a $2 fix with bulk hose.

My '09 Accord made the same noise some time last year. I did some research and it all pointed out at the O-ring (the one on the intake suction). It was easy to replace. The noise went away.

Thanks for sharing. Very helpful.

Peter Grant says:

Any way to tell if that's the cause of the noise? Never changes much, gets less noisy while you're steering the wheel back and forth but the pump sounds horrible

Tony Thompson says:

Thank you so much! Fixed my annoying noise with not much hassle. God bless!

Lai Shung says:

The noise is meaning power steering fluid is low or dry, just checking where got leaking

Arthur Smith says:

There are two O rings. One where he shows you and the other is under those two little bolts you see in the video.
