Scotty, I think you're confusing leasing and ownership with a lien. When you take a mortgage you actually own the house, but the bank is entitled to a certain monetary amount either from you paying it back or from foreclosure. This is the same as when you finance a car. When you lease it, the delear actually owns the car and therefore is allowed to do whatever the terms of the contract allow, including not allowing you to buy back the car at the end at all
The Lawyer that thought up that clause has to be very rich…unless other lawyers screwed him out of it.

I would not think it was legal to change the rules after the paperwork is signed.
If you finance a car you are stupid anyway!
Just pay off the residual value to buy the car so you own it, THEN resell it.
If there's a buyout option on the lease, not sure how Honda could enforce that new rule. Used car dealers are desperate for these cars and will pay the buyout or conversion.

2002 Accord 4 cylinder , 375k miles, fram orange can of death and castrol GTX or whatever on sale in walmart.
I had a honda CRV i loved. Had it regularly serviced. It took a dump at 108k because it didn’t have radiator fluid and thus it overheated, cracked bearings and broken oil pump. This happened a month after a service at the honda dealership.
I went ahead an bought a miata two days ago. In a way it all worked out and im happy.
Scotty, I just bought a 1995 GMC Suburban with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel at 266,500 miles. It runs absolutely fine but it has some distinctive "pinging" sounds coming from the engine at idle. The engine idles at about 300-500 RPM, it varies a lot. I haven't found much information about this problem, could it be a stuck lifter?
My mom had a leased lexus that they bought back from her for enough of a residual value that she was able to afford a 2021 Rav4. She wanted out of the lease due to the payment being high, and Lexus basically bought the car back no questions asked.
Unfortunately for Lexus, that car had the wiring harness chewed out by rats once and was rewired under the lease. I don't doubt the abilities of technicians rewiring a car, but… oof.
