Here’s another DIY tutorial. This time on how to replace the front struts on a 2012 Honda Odyssey. The instructions should be the same for other 4th generation Odysseys.
Here’s a great price on both “quick struts” (full assembly with springs and everything): http://amzn.to/2eX3ioN I highly recommend getting the quick struts, as it will make the job 100 times easier and the price on these is really good compared to the stealership.

Thank you. Same procedure for my 2010 Pilot. This was identical. As mentioned, having the jack on the lower control arm makes for easy adjustments when aligning lower bolts.
What were the updated part numbers?
Stay away from the Monroe quick struts, they are flat out junk.Monroe is having quality control problems.Had one come back we installed a year ago, came apart in pieces with a banging noise in the rear complaint
Are they better than stock ones?
Top plastic piece is called a cowl cover
Extreme DIY How have the Unity quick struts held up? I usually try to buy a strut brand I recognize, but the Unity seem to be to only quick struts I can find for the 2011 Odyssey. So, wondering how they ride and are holding up?
Love it, appreciate it
Did you buy the spring already mounted to the strut? All OEM Honda?
Next time loosen the three nuts on top before you do the bottom to prevent the strut dropping on any of the lines and damaging it, it will also help if you put a jack underneath to control downward motion. My 2 cents.
Thanks for the video! Question, I see you link in the video description for Amazon quick struts…are these the ones that you used or did you use the OEM ones? You mentioned in the video that Honda fixed the noise issue…so, not sure if you used OEM ones or the Amazon linked ones? Thanks again!
What part # for that replacement, I have the same problem with my 2011
also, viewers- mark the wiper arm indexing with a paint pen before removal- saves a ton of headache later!
that, sir, is called a cowl cover, or "cowl" for short.
Thanks for this….I will be doing this soon.
