Same trick works to push off stuck rotors. Run the bolt through the brake bracket with a nut on the other side and push I right off. I keep extra hardware of different sizes for this exact reason. A few nuts and bolts take up less space than a hammer and do less damage to parts you plan on using again

@agusmafuri says:

That only removes the hub not bearing itself

@nicopicco says:

Good idea but the issue for me is that there is no knuckle to push on that not covered by the brake shield

Hub pullers rent for free at major parts stores. Your idea will work on many wheels, but you have to remove the brake backing plate or your method will destroy it. My vehicle has a full enclosed brake backing plate, and is installed behind the hub.

Tried the jaw pullers on my rotor and it took half the bearing with it lol. Turned a couple hour job into a couple DAYS.

I always find these "gem" videos, right after I bought the tool(s). but good to know for next time

@sugarsaint says:

Only issue is my hub doesnt have random holes and the lugs are riveted in

@nber82 says:

Literally did this today…

I have a Bosch GBH2-28L hammer drill, put the chisel on perpendicular to the hub, and just hit it to spin it. I soaked it in wd-40, but after banging it, trying everything, this was a breeze. Will be doing this in the future. All you have to do is start spinning it and it kind of works itself out. Low effort for the win.

Sadly I tried this technique on a wheel bearing from a car that was in the rust belt. It didn't work took the whole knuckle off and went down to a shop and they tried to press it out and they couldn't do it. Steel and aluminum do not mix. But this trick did work on the other side. Wish it would have worked I had to get a new knuckle from a junkyard. Don't by a car from the rust belt….

I got to replace my hubs ASAP. Thanks for this handy dandy little tip

Bro, just get you a brass hammer. And go to town

My subaru bearing was so rusted on that it just stripped the threads.; Make sure to use hardened or youre SOL.
