CB7 Honda Accord Ignition Switch Replacement DIY Fix

CB7 Honda Accord Ignition Switch Replacement DIY Fix

I created this as part of a DIY tutorial for www.CB7tuner.com. Not all of the steps are shown, as I had to hold the camera and do the work myself. The folks at the above website are very helpful and will get you where you need to go. Thanks.

GulfCoastToad says:

That makes two of us.

Mike Dever says:

I'm not sure which DIY you were referring to in the description (granted, you posted this nearly 6 years ago!)

GulfCoastToad says:

Sure–send me the link and I will post it.

BeXanh1 says:

If you have an auto, it's the safety switch that is bad preventing you from taking the key out.

Mike Dever says:

As stated, this video is PART of a tutorial on CB7tuner.com. There is more to the process. This video simply illustrates a part of it.
Dylan, perhaps posting a link to the DIY thread on CB7tuner.com would make this video more helpful for people who stumble across it here on Youtube (or on Google, which is actually how I found it… )

GulfCoastToad says:

@geraldfoushee Step 1: Get a hammer and an awl. Step 2: Put awl on screw head. Step 3: Use hammer.

michael terrien says:

dude thanks for showing this made my switch changeout alot easier and it is as easy as it looks in the video

joeh690 says:

so banging on it will remove it ?

AndItGoesToWaste says:

Thank you so much, you just saved me the headache of drilling and punching!

Momadoo425 says:

anymore Video links in to repairing the rest of the switch??

GulfCoastToad says:

@cmedyfan I'm sorry, man. I don't know how to fix that.

chrismc410 says:

Will this also work on an Acura? I have a 1992 Integra that needs a new switch, someone tried to steal it.

AZombiesMinge says:

Good video, thanks a bunch man.

Adam Alsnayyan says:

You just need to take the instrument cluster cover (the black dash piece) out instead of tinkering with that hammer and screwdriver lol.

Jose Trejo says:

than you man you just save me a lot of stress

mo mo says:

Change the main relay and your problem will be solved. And watch Ericthecarguy videos he will show how to repair the Main relay if you want to fix it.

bitenmein says:

dude I see the same problem in my 02 civic, but how the hell do you take out the just the locking cylinder part?

Lee Lienhard says:

The screws he is banging on do not have heads. You need a sharp pointed instrument to put a little dent near the edge. Afte that this dent can be used as a anchor point to bang further in a counter clockwise until loose enough to spin out with your fingers. Installing is the reverse process.

i have to replace my ignition on my 95 honda accord so i watched this video….i don't know what i just watched……it might need to be longer than 55 seconds for me lol and you might have to talk during the video telling people what you are doing.

Tim Gapinski says:

Nailed with unbelievable financial setbacks last week, I had to fix the key lock myself. I made it down to the switch but the tumblers were broken and the key would not go into the I position, so the cylander would not come out. the next night, I quickly glanced at this video after not finding anything on the internet to help me out of this jam.
My family is proud of me, but I am proud of you! I do not know who you are or why you did this but I LOVE what is in you that made you do this. peace

GulfCoastToad says:

You're welcome. I told myself "If this video helps 1 person, I'll make it", and you're that 1 person!

Bryan R. says:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was anticipating dropping the steering column or drilling out the bolts until I saw how easy this was! It took me about 10 minutes with no mess and very little fuss. Thank you again!
