Thank you so much ! My car is a 98 Honda Civic LX . & would just cut off while driving . I would proceed to try and start the car it would crank but not turn on all the way , but then would start back on after a couple of cranks . Hopefully replacing the distributor will help it run great again !

Dan Shellem says:

Very helpful. I'm having the same stalling issue. What's crazy to me is how often the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) inside the distributor is confused with the crankshaft fluctuation sensor (CKF) which is behind the crank pulley. Even on auto parts websites most of them have them mislabeled. So when I looked up the OBDII code of P0336, it said I needed a CKP sensor, but because they're so often mislabeled on parts sites, I ordered a CKF sensor (which the site advertised as a CKP), and I was planning on tearing apart the whole timing assembly and crank pulley with the alternator and power steering belts to replace it. Luckily before I did that I realized what I ordered was actually a CKF sensor so I then ordered what I actually needed (the CKP sensor) by just ordering a whole new distributor, which contains the new CKP. Thankfully, replacing the distributor is a whole lot easier than removing the main crank pulley and removing belts and stuff. I haven't installed the new distributor yet, so hopefully that fixes the stalling issue. Anyway, thanks for the video.

I have a 99 civic ex. I have the same problem along with a low idle, car stalls when I shift into reverse at times when it’s cold, but when it’s warmed up it doesn’t stall at all in reverse. It throws no codes and I replaced the fuel pump and filter. The cap and rotor was recently done as well, should I try replace the whole distributor??

98 Civic Lx sedan my issue is when I try putting my car up the ramps it won’t go up. Like it doesn’t have power. Even if I step on the gas it won’t move up the little ramps. The only code Popping up is P1290. Will the distributor cause that?

Frank J says:

Thank you. It works for me.

When swapping out the whole distributor don’t you generally need to use a timing light after ?
