Although we all appreciate the video, please change the title this is not
about fixing it is a replacement.

Richard Kicklighter says:

Thanks, dude – great help!
How did you isolate the problem to the pump, rather than something like the
relay? Would the Jimmy even start?

kennybopaloo Bop says:

Yo…you said fixing a fuel pump…..Slick………………..

70soundwave says:

Not to be an A-hole but I thought the video was going to be about fixing a
fuel pump not replacing one.

kennybopaloo Bop says:

we don’t want to know about your seats ands stuff………….

Abdul Hawail says:

You’r so great Lawrence. Best Wishes

Gavin Bruce says:

Cesar Rincon says:

This is great I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy, my fuel pump works fine but the gas
gauge is dancing back and forth, do I have to change the complete pump or
change the gauge?

ratheepan elayathampi elthambi ratheepan says:

Great job

N. Nasko Tatic says:

You are an honest and brave man. Thanks for sharing this with us.

cbgreenbay says:

@greencaddi505 Track down the problem with the lights first. You may have
an electrical problem that is also screwing with the pump. You can tell if
the pump is working if you open your gas cap and put your ear to the filler
hole. If its working you will notice a hum ,small electric motor kind of
noise for a few secounds when some turns the ignition key to on. If no
sound, that may not mean the pump is bad. Its just not getting power. If
all fuse and relays check out ….Next>

Jake Sharp says:

got my jimmy for $1700! and my fuel pump for 88$ , took me 2 days to just
get the pump out haha. now i got this video to put finish it! thanks man!!

ohshit109 says:

If I can manage to change my fuel pump myself I save myself $150.00.

SurfBeat1 says:

Anyone planning on personally removing the fuel tank, e sure to be very
careful removing the filler hose from the tank. FYI, the fuel tank is made
or plastic and if you are not careful removing the rubber fuel hose from
the tank outlet, it can be easily broken. The fuel tanks are old, thus the
tank filler outlet can be very frail. 97-2000, the tanks are different,
sharing the same tank as a 2001-2004.

Street Rod says:

Thanks for the video Sir…going to put a fuel pump in my 1997 blazer this
weekend

james davis says:

Nice gmc Jimmy man I’m kinda working on my tailgate on my 91 chevy s-10

lawnside82 says:

nice truck.. $1k.. nice.. internet win!!

wafrederick says:

Read the auto forums,Airtex fuel pumps have high failure rates.Went through
this about 11 years ago,put in 6 fuel pumps in a row in a Chevy truck due
to Airtex fuel pumps.Carquest used to use Airtex as their fuel pump
supplier for the GMs,nothing but high failure rates.Switched to Delphi,no
failure rates.Plus Airtex turns down warranty claims called installer error
99.9% of the time.

Lawrence Duarte says:

@BrutexxForce Cause it’s informative it’s been over a year and our fuel
pump is still working great. I say I’m not a mechanic as a disclaimer so
people can’t hold me responsible for anything that may go wrong dew to
there own nigglect thank you have a great day 🙂

charles k says:

thanks 4 posting u helped me. charles

JLRodriguez405 says:

great video bro!

Damaris Garcia says:

real good job thanks bro

Lawrence Duarte says:

@Gordon302 Oh ok well i never said the blue ring was dried and wore out it
was fine and I don’t think it did come with a new sensor as for the fuel
leak I never had one and still don’t have one and the truck is still
running great . Thats why I asked you that cause almost allof what you said
had nothing to do with me.

elder ls says:

For a man who admitted that he didn’t know what he was doing…you did a
great job bruh! Hey it takes a “white nigger” to write something as idiotic
as “SATANiceCream” did, that dud (I mean dude) has some real issues and
need to get over himself but you checked him. If he really knew what lies
under his skin & that of his ancestors he wouldn’t talk like that.
Nevertheless, my friend his screen name says it all…SATAN. You handled
that foolishness well. Good job all the way around!!!

rdl3video says:

lol ya the new saftey gas cans suck. i ranout of gas one time went and got
gas/can then had to buy a funnel.2.5 hours when it wouldve took me 10
minuts to get gas.

Gordon302 says:

@earthscraper69, Yes that comment was for you.

Lawrence Duarte says:

@SatanIceCream That’s to funny lmao

wafrederick says:

Don’t cheap out on the fuel pump either,Airtex is to avoid and they have a
huge failure rate.Delphi and AC Delco only for a GM if you want to do it
right the first time

SurfBeat1 says:

You put the steel retaining mount up-side down.

Johnny Boy GT,CA 13 says:

sweet video! i’m about to replace my fuel pump on my 91 Blazer. how did you
know your fuel pump needed replacing? Would your Jimmy start, idle rough,
start then quit ect. ? what were the symptoms?

OSDCrusher says:

You’re an idiot. There is a thing called a funnel that you can use to put
gas in your gas tank from a gas can. Also there is the fuel pressure
regulator is not in the fucking gas tank you idiot.

justin b says:

i just put a pump in a 2000 blazer i got it from ebay and it works had a
hard time getting the pump in the tank and press it down and put that round
clip over it how did u do it

greencaddi505 says:

i have the same problem my blazer just died when i was driving and now wont
start. could this be the fuel pump anyone one have any ideas before i drop
the tank to put a new pump in it. i check fuses relays but still nothing.
Also will the fuel pump not make my lights go on they ussally do when i
turn the key to on but now they dont. If someone could help i would
appricate it thanks.

wafrederick says:

I agree with you 100%.I have seen 6 fuel pumps in a Chevy truck fail, all
Airtex fuel pumps.

wafrederick says:

Do not ever buy an Airtex fuel pump, you will do the job over and over
again.Buy a Delphi or AC Delco fuel pump for any GM only.

Micscience says:

The black connector is for the fuel level sensor and signal the white one
is for the fuel pump motor. You don’t have to remove both sides of the fuel
filler pipes just the side on the tank however it is good to remove them
and clean them and coat them with some rust resistant paint since they get
really rusty. Good job though man good luck.

Duane Wong says:

That’s pretty good for not claiming to be a mechanic or technician for the
fuel pump. Shows a good deal of intuition, I think.

deedras says:

how much force/pressure did you have to place on top of the fuel pump to
get the ring to snap in….We are “Trying” to replace my fathers ’98
Chevy’s fuel pump and we are having SUCH a hard time getting it on. I was
hoping that you would have taped that portion :(….

JohnLeePedimore says:

I got excited when I saw the word “fix” in the title because I thought it
would be about fixing the fuel pump itself instead of just replacing a $300
part. On my ’98 Astro I just cut a small access panel in the floor with a
sawzall and pulled the pump out through the floor.I’m really suprised that
GM doesn’t just put a removable plate there already, especially on
pick-ups.I know some guys who remove the whole bed to change the pump!?!?

Lawrence Duarte says:

lmao thank you but you would need to add mexican to that fraze. if you are
going to get it right … thank you for watching have a great day.

ThePariss333 says:

Appreciate your video. I have a Q: This pump is the same in the Hyundai
Elantra 2008 and the Dealer dont replace fuel filter, untill the Pump is
gone. What you do about the fuel filter, do you change it or not? The
manual said: Replace after 52 000 miles, what about your? Thank you again
for any reply. Your fuel pump is not exactly the same but I want to know
about fuel filter
