Today, I finally install a camshaft in my truck. It’s a Texas Speed & Performance Stage 3 “Low Lift” Truck Cam and LS6 valve springs that TSP included.
.550″/.550″ 216/220@.050″ on a 112 LSA.

Honestly, it was pretty straight forward. Start to finish was about 7 hours, but I had to do some running around that took up a lot of time too. If I started with everything I needed from the beginning, it probably would’ve only taken 4-5 hours.

I really dont know why you would install a $400.00 camshaft without replacing the lifters. Worn rollers on a fresh lobe never made sense to me.

What heads do u have? Im fixing to cam my 01 5.3 I believe its a lm7 motor. I have 706 heads witch everyone is saying they suck. Do u think I should go with the 862 heads or just stick with mine?
I'm just curious why that particular cam? If you could, would you have gone with something different? I'm not doggin' on your decision, I think it was an awesome choice, I'm just curious if you had like, a list to choose from, how did you come to deciding that was the cam to get?
Reason I ask is because I've been looking at different cams such as the "stage 3 high lift truck cam" and thinking, "if snidertron could of gotten this one, would he of?"
But thats the 4.8 Vortec engine not the 5.3 Vortec

Before you tore the truck down for the cam swap, did you put #1 piston at TDC on compression stroke so you could line up the timing marks on the cam and crank gear ? Thanks.
