Easy Repair you can do yourself, using Dorman 14057
Symptoms of a failed Shifter Cable will include:
– a Shifter that feels much easier to move than normally, while not moving the Gear indicator on cluster
-if in a gear other than park, the key will not turn all the way to lock position and key may not remove from cylinder. this will also result in the battery/charge indicator light to remain lit, causing the battery to drain.
Always Follow all safety Precautions!
Your funny man. Definitely lightened my mood in the situation a bit! Thanks for the video.
This is awesome! Thanks for the info man !
Thanks so much for this video.. You just saved me a couple of bucks on a tow. I am glad I looked at YouTube before the tow truck came.. Now.. I need to know how to get my hatch back door open
Great description, had the problem yesterday and thought it might require a tow truck and a mechanic. After seeing this video, went and got the 14057 Help! at Auto Zone, got to the truck and Voila!, fixed in 5 minutes. Appreciate your help.
Thanks very helpful, but my problem is engine runs and gear shifts when the engine is cold but gear won't shift when the engine gets hot. Any suggestions?
Men like you are what makes YouTube great. Thanks for this, man… know that feeling in your gut when you think you're gonna need a whole new transmission? Eff that. You're hilarious too, by the way 🙂
fixed this for a buddy, who traded my fix for a $400 putter and a couple nice wedges.. bammmm!!!
Quick and easy fix. 2 minutes.
Went to O'Reillys and they gave me part #14055 and it is real stubborn to go on (2003 Trailblazer). Should I go back and get 14057?
No reason for a thumbs down…what idiots would do that and why???
This video saved my ass today, thanks
I have same vehicle, it wouldn't go into no gears, changed both shift solenoid and got 1-2 gear and reverse back but no 3-4 gear any suggestions?
Hi, James. You're awesome. I had this break about 3 weeks ago and I fixed it as you showed. Last night, it popped off and when I went under to see what happened, I notice that it fits on the ball pin pretty loosely. I double checked my installation and everything looks correct. Should I assume I got the one package with a manufacturer's defect and try another one? I drove it home but don't have confidence that it's not going to happen again. I'm a 62 year old woman and would rather not be crawling around under the car more than I have to. LOL
