Just used this video to do process on 1991 GMC Sonoma (S-10/Jimmy/etc) Same basic but only two bolts on the bracket and haven’t confirmed torque specs.
It may be the same or a similar procedure. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Will this be the same for a 1999 GMC Jimmy?
You could possibly rethread it, or if it’s that bad, you may be able to get a decent one from your local salvage yard.
I tried installing the idler arm without removing the bracket and ended up stripping the bolt on the bracket…Do i need to replace the bracket or can it be retreaded?
We currently do not have an auto repair video on that particular vehicle. The process may be different.
Would the process be the same on a 2001 Chevy Suburban 1500 4wd?
Thank you
It may be a similar process on that vehicle.
will this process be the same as or similar on a 2000 gmc sonoma 4×4?
I think you may mean to say “nut”
i love how 1A Auto videos arent cut and edited, they show the whole process which helps a lot compared to other how-to videos… thanks a lot 1a auto
You may want to check the steering linkage under the truck to see if something has broke.
my 94 suburban left wheel wont turn back … its stuck facing the moter
We were using another bolt to help press the shaft down into the arm.
You may want to check the ball joints, they could tend to make a popping noise if they were bad.
alright so i got a clunking/popping sound coming from my left front doesnt sound bad just really iratating and i want it fixed. it pops on rough road and when turning left i thought it was my hub had that replacednot that now i think its the tie rod but i got an alignment and the shop said those are fine but it stopped popping after the alignment then started the next day and then it lost the alignment after 2 days.
good video this will save me some time
You may want to look at the linkage while someone turns the wheel to see what’s moving before the wheels turn.
Excellent video. How do I know if I need to change the idler steering arm though? I changed all the tie rods on my Tahoe and it seems like I can turn the steering wheel more than usual without the tires even turning. Could this be it?
Thanks again for another great video! Helps a ton!
Thank you very much for the video… Saved me a bunch of time
