How to Fix Humming or Buzzing Noise from GMC or Chevy Headliner or Ceiling

This video shows you how to replace the part that hums above the drivers head in the ceiling of many vehicles. This annoying noise can be fixed in less than 10 minutes with a cheap part.

The part can be purchased here: https://boostautoparts.com/collections/stop-the-buzzing-from-your-gm-headliner/products/stop-the-buzzing-from-your-gm-headliner

Many believe this to be the on star microphone but it is actually part of the HVAC control system. This part is found in many climate control systems including Silverado Sierra Chevrolet GMC Duramax Yukon Tahoe Denali and others

How do you know if it’s bad if it’s not humming? My auto feature and ac/heat is all over the place. Is this the only sensor? I just bought my 2003 suburban and still learning, any info is greatly appreciated!

tankdog03 says:

Would this cause my snowflake to come on when I push auto at 90° and it's winter and I want heat?

Car Kingz says:

No no no that noise is to mimic the sound of the exhaust to enhance the owner experience of owning that type of truck. If you want the true experience then you may want to buy a Ford diesel! Iam just saying!

rdgsupafli says:

Lol what a douchebag you won’t tell what the part is what a way to get money from us.

CHEVY BOY!!!! says:

I almost stabbed it with a screwdriver, lol

Mark Persons says:

Thanks for the video! Totally easy fix using flat blade screwdriver, a small pick, and 7 minutes. Did the rear one in my 03 Suburban, as well… way easier than I thought and fix works well!!

I have a 2008 Tahoe had to replace this in the front and of course it worked NOW the one in the rear over the 3rd row seat is doing the same thing. Anyone know how to remove the headliner from the rear to replace that one?

josh harriel says:

What's the part???

Steverino says:

Do you have a video on how to replace the rear one? That's the one that is making noise on my Tahoe. I know you have to pull those panels in all the right places or you ruin them.

Abraham Valencia says:

What is the name of the part?

Timothy Smith says:

Is this part number the same for the rear one as well?

Olivia D says:

Hi, I have a 2008 Gmc Denali xl, mine is humming terribly. What is this part called and where can I find the part to replace it. Thank you!

Pyro_Chip says:

Mine has drips of water coming out of it, couls that happen because of condensation? Or do you think i have a roof leak?

David Dowling says:

I would not call a 50.00 cheap what does this do or is it just another gm only part that cost money and does nothing

Jeremy Barber says:

The DVD player in my van just started making this insane humming noise when I shut the car off the humming noise is still there any suggestions on what it is and how to stop it thank you for your advice

Randy I-Skate says:

Very helpful. I went a step further and removed the sun visor to put less stress on the headliner. I used a short piece of wood to hold the headliner down while I swapped out the part. The "Auto" function seems to be correct now, too. Thanks.
