2017 Silverado crew cab 4×4 5.3 owner here and I have fixed those MF AFM valves twice already, . Any recommendations besides trading it in for a tundra?
I owned the 2014 and now own the 2018..and what I've noticed is that do the oil change around 6k miles(syntetic)…dealership "recomends" at 10k…DO NOT listen to them…at 6k miles oil was black and almost 1/2 qt less…worth it…
I have a 2010 Silverado 2lt Z71 I have owned it since new . I had a lifter collapse at 175 k . If i would have known about the delete method i would have done it at 100k . I now have 280k on my truck.
I just bought a 2016 with 178k on it at auction I have no idea about the service history It was a southern truck so rust free which is why I wanted it. My plan is to address all the issues before I start driving it on a regular basis. my goal is to make a reliable long lasting corrosion resistant truck that can last another 10 years.
I’m in wi did the pill flip 4 years ago and I’ve had no issues. Somewhere around 70k on the flip 16 Gmc 1500 5.3 6speed I opted for Diablo i3 over the range and I engine flush every other oil change with gunk / motor medic engine flush. Currently 130k still running great
From an engineer from GM you don’t ever touch your transmission fluid or anything until it starts to give you issues then mess with it other than that don’t touch it fluid should last life of transmission. It breaks down over time. The transmission is calibrated for it if you change it, you can mess it up, if you’re going to do transmission flush do you need to do it starting at 25,000 miles and Joanne than it has to be a regularly yearly thing done
I live in Saudi Arabia, 120ish fahrenheit is normal. Ive flipped the therms, got a friend who recommended the C7 and Cadillac V line thermostats since their high performance would compensate for overheated environment. I do 0w20 on winter and 0w40 summer. 100k miles on it no issues except the brake booster and a cracked front diff housing after a rocky impact while offroading. 7 inch shit country lift and a 37 inch lt bf goodrich will be regearing soon. Also mufflers and broke the emission control, it sounds like a 1975 pontiac yet still passed inspection with emission hc at 1.1%>. Do not forget the timing belt on your next major..
nice video , what are your thoughts on the 0/20 oil ? ive had a 2015 silverado and got an 18 when they came out cause i hated the transmission shifting of the 15. its not as clunky in the 18. I dont trust the 0/20 oil and last oil change i noticed ive got metal shavings! not a ton but still they are there. 2018 with 40k no heavy work or towing. And due to gas prices and being a visiting nurse i drive it like my grandmother lol i was thinking of going to 5/20 or 5/30
2016 Silverado 5.3 v8 Problems I’ve had Ac condenser 50k miles Transmission 95k miles O2 sensors 130k miles Thermostat 165k miles Temperature sensor 165k miles Most expensive issue was the transmission everything else I fixed myself. Really simple fixes
Just bought a 2015 5.3L 1500 High Country. We live in Az and want to add a Aux transmission cooler ( changing the trans thermostat tomorrow) but I am having trouble finding a Trans cooler to fit. Any recommendations would be great!
If I wanted to switch to Amsoil in transmission on my chevy 2018 5.3L 1500 with 80,000mi, would you recommend flushing to get complete Amsoil in there?
The AC issue can be avoided by adding the $10 bracket from GM to take the stress off the weld. New Genuine GM Bracket Part# – 23264893.
i put phone books in the door to bullet proof mine
No Cold Air Intake?

So this isnt about bulletproofing a truck?
Easiest way to fix a GM permanently is to get rid of it.
