2003 GMC Envoy – Pt11 AC clutch diagnosis – repair diy trailblazer raineer 4.2l 4×4 suv

Thanks to a comment on the last vid I was able to diagnose the clutch just by putting force on the face of it and actually got it to turn on it’s own, sort of…

2003 GMC Envoy SUV 4×4 4.2L auto, similar to chevy trailblazer and buick raineer of same model year ranges.

When the clutch goes out are you able to press the AC button on your dash? Mine goes out time to time and blows really hot air, and I’m unable to press the AC button and the vent controls don’t work.

Mine had the same issue, I removed the Nut holding on the Clutch disk, removed a shim to get it back into spec and it worked as good as new no need for a new compressor or clutch took about 10 minutes and a tool rental at Autozone for holding the disk. It is a wrench with three adjustable studs to match the three holes in the clutch plates face. Just put it in loosen the nut pull of the disk remove a shim reinstall check gap so it isn't rubbing on the compressor drive when not engaged and tighten the nut. Should have 40-50 PSI on the low side and 170-220 on the high side if you hook up gauges.

Was this a permanent fix?
