Hi! This is the best “how to video that I have seen on Youtube. The angle is perfect. The lighting is perfect the audio is perfect. Both videos are excellent but part2 is even better. The timing is so good that a slight (fraction of a second) hesitation about pulling out the toothpick is noticeable. You should consider selling DVD or CD version of part1 and 2 reassembled. I will be watching more videos in an attempt complete the electrical loops between alternator and battery outside of car.

i have a 1990 cadillac deville,I blew my alternator giving someone a jump off. This video motivated me to rebuild it.Wish me luck!!!

Curtis Stanley says:

SUPER HELPFUL. I have an alternator off of a 1995 cadillac seville sls and after I watched part 1 and 2 and put it all back together (and some cleaning) I worked great. I just saved $134. Thank you

Good, instructive video. Thanks Mr.Alternatorman

Since the guy who made this video took time out of his life to teach me something via video I bought my parts from him. Seems like common courtesy to me. If I hadn’t seen this video I would have bought a new alternator for about 200 dollars. I was at a public event last night and very aggravated with how people in the crowd where so self absorbed, which I find rude and offensive. I think your question says a lot about your respect for others, or lack of.

I work for General Motors of Canada and drive a 1999 Buick LeSabre. I would like to purchase a AC Delco rebuild kit. Can anyone suggest a web site I can go to, to purchase a kit?

When you check the continuity between the slip rings, are you just making sure that they are connected (i.e. they have continuity???). What ohm rating should they have? Can I just use the continuity function on my Fluke instead?

helllo i just fixed my alternator i replaced the voltage regulator every thing else was in good condition but 3 days later it broke again it stopped charging ,i have a short circuit prob the stereo ,cigarette lighter and dash lights fuse burns out frequently do you think that broke my alternator again?

twiztid83222 says:

Beautiful . No wonder you have 50,000 views. Good instructions. I would love for you to beef up my alternator because im running a 1550rms amplifier off it. But ill just have to take it somewhere local.

Walter Grace says:

Your videos are in the true spirit of the U.S.A. where we made and fixed things, instead of just buying and throwing away. Do you do any Chrysler or Denso rebuilding, by the way?

I invented a breakthrough renewable source of energy that violates the law of energy conservation. I have a proof that there are phenomena that violate the law of energy conservation. I am looking for $6M for a prototype and patents.

good job! me too repair alternator’s domestics and imports starters too.

MrZayne says:

ah,but what if you DO feel rubbing when you spin the pulley? The CS144 I just picked from a ’91 Eldorado 4.9L has noticable ‘rubbing’ when I spin it. Is there another video to address a further rebuild?

Thank you very much. I got a whole box full of these, what I am wanting thou is a welder-generator-edm power supply. I will be turning the alternator with a small motor. A way to burn broken bolts out cheaply and make emergency repairs. It does not put out enough current to weld thick metal well thou. FOR LOOKIN INSIDE, thanks. This also is a great way to build a windmill, using the AC to transmit down the post, the windspeed controls the Current in. I’m still working on that.

alternatorman says:

the main component difference is the stator, the more windings it has, the higher the output. But also, when upgrading the stator, you have to upgrade the bridge rectifier as well.

karlo29 says:

hello, thank you very much for your video it was very helpfull, i had a question though, what would the physical component difference be between the different amperage alternators? ie what what parts would i change to make an 85amp to a 100amp, or is the houseing also different? thank you for any help
