2008 avalanche 5.3 flex .. oil coming out dip stick hole .. it would be pcv valve a easy fix but on 2008 5.3 the pcv valve is in the valve cover .. so do you know if this will fix that problem cause u did just replaced the driver side …
Kevin… do you have to get the newer style ? What’s the difference ? I ordered one from Autozone and I’m pretty sure it’s the rounded one instead of the rectangular one.
I have a impala ss 2009 with 5.3.will this same part fit because the parts store tell me my car has a different model number for this partalthough it's still a 5.3
I found a fouled #7 spark plug and I am wondering if this valve cover is the issue. Is there a way to tell if this valve cover fix has already been performed to my 5.3 without removing it first?
Just to inform everyone this problem applies to MOST LS based engines before I believe 2008. And no, Camaro's do not come with 5.3l's. They almost all exclusively come with 5.7L's up until the 5th generation.
hey i had a question i think i got the same problem. but i got a little bit of oil on my spark plugs when i changed them what could it be the valve cover gasket?
i suspect this as a last culprit on my 05 silverado Just head head gaskets up replaced also valve seals not smoking on crank as bad as it use to but it's still there at times I am gonna try driving it a few days with the vac pcv line capped off and off the rear of cover and see if it stops then I'll know for sure I'm guessing the old design get clogged and let's it suck oil into the intake thus the smoke on start up I don't really use any oil that I noticed mine will smoke a few mins then it's gone. I found the updated cover also on ebay for around $59.00
Thanks bud just did this on my 07 suburban and the smoke is gone so appreciate you taking the time to make this video.
Thanks for the video it was a big help

Did your vehicle idle rough on startup along with the blue smoke? Going to replace my valve cover on my 04 silverado with a 5.3 engine
So the valve cover gasket is on the left hand side of the engine on a 2002 GMC Yukon Denali 6.0?????

When changing the valve cover gaskets do you have to drain the oil

Didn't have to disconnect the plug wires….Just do bolts and disconnect the the Grey clip and the whole thing drops down and out of the way……
Cover comes with seal attached, easy to do, 08 suburban runs better, who cares about some oil usage, but heck with the start up smoke… great video pal
Did you clean the mating surface on the head?
Did you have to replace gaskets? Thanks
Just did this on my 08 Silverado LT. parts store had two one without the updated Dorman 264-965 $ 107 and updated one Dorman 264-969 $80.

i've got a 2011 Suburban, do i need this or do I have the new valve cover?

Dumb question I doubt you have to worry about any oil coming out… right?
