How to replace a GM 3.6 VVT cam phaser without removing the timing chain or cover.

The timing chains and cam phasers seem to be a big problem with these GM high feature 3.6 VVT motors. I replace my timing chains, tensioners, guides and sprockets last year. I did not however, replace the cam phasers. After about 10 months the car developed a rattle at startup. One of the tell tail signs that a cam phaser was not staying locked in position when the car was shut off. Then the car developed a miss and was throwing the codes for cylinder 1, 3, and ,5 misfire. I though at first that just replacing the cam phasers would solve this. So I purchased the EN-48313 timing chain retention tools to alow me to do the job without removing the timing cover. Once Igot into the motor i discovered that was not my only problem. The right bank chain had a bunch of slack in it. I found that the tensioner for that bank had collapsed back to the deactivated state. I am thinking that the phasers not staying locked at startup allowed enough slack in the chain and a shock load may have forced the tensioner back into its collapsed state befor the motor had a chance to build oil pressure sufficient enough to hold the tensioner out.

The best thing that you can do with the 3.6L is throw it in the trash.

Regarding "the tool"…google the number specified in the video and you can find for about $165 or so….but, beware…..it seems as though the tool locks everything in place so that the chain does not slip off the lower sprocket – not provide slack. Additionally, it would seem as though you need to remove the camshaft to get the sprocket out as there does not seem to be enough clearance to remove the sprocket with the camshaft and chains in place…..is there anyone that has actually changed these without removing the cover or is this an urban legend?

I don't see that tool available on Amazon. I need one for my 2014 Ford Mustang V6 3.7. Can someone please help me with a link or key words? Thank you.

Every now and then I give the pcv a couple of squirts of throttle body cleaner on engine, also change oil every 2.500 miles and add a bottle of high milage Rislone. 250.000 miles no slap no problems, get 19 miles a gallon.

I notice the tensioner will be lock if it's not push in all the way, (I used a C camp to push it in) and reload the holding pin, make sure it works by pulling the holding pin to verify it's not lock in place.
