How to Repair a DEEP SCRATCH in Car Paint (DIY)

Learn how to repair a deep scratch in the paint of your car. In this case someone keyed my car so I will show you how to remove a deep scratch from that using a touch up paint pen. Fixing scratches in your car’s paint is simple and if they are just clear coat scratches it is even easier.

To remove deep scratches you need to clean the scratch, sand the scratch, use touchup paint on the scratch, sand that paint smooth with the factory paint job, add clear coat, and wet sand that smooth with the factory paint. Then you can polish the whole panel and you are done!

Where can I buy a pen like the one shown in the video? What is the exact product?

Thanks for sharing. If the abrasive tip of paint pen not available, what is the equivalent size of sand paper?

Will this work on a front bumper (not metal) the same way? Someone hit my car recently while it was parked and, of course, didn't leave a note or anything. Not worth the deductible IMO but also doesn't look good either. Guess that's why dashcams are nice to have SMH. Want to try this but not sure if this same method will work on plastics. Thanks. The results here are incredible!

Oh, wow. This didn’t work for me – my car has a grey metallic paint with those speckles in it. When I sand it down the speckles get removed.

If I don’t use the pen, what do I use instead of the white tip to clean out the scratch? I am going to work on my bmw and duplicolor pen doesn’t have my exact color so I need to use the bmw touch up paint. Appreciate reply from one of you guys.

I feel like he should of only used one layer of paint and then fill in the rest of the indentation with clear coat. He basically applied the clear coat to an already flush surface and then just sanded it off
