GMC/Chevrolet Power Seat Repair

GMC/Chevrolet Power Seat Repair

Hey Y’all! Today we have a tutorial on how to fix a power seat on a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe (and similar Chevy/GMC vehicles). The motor was whirring and operating perfectly, but the seat wasn’t moving. We found out that the plastic gears were broken and needed to be replaced. Laura takes us through the process of removing and installing gears to fix what could have been an expensive repair. Hope this helps you save time and money as well!

Abdullah Abdullah says:

I appreciate you effort for this video. I have the same issue. However, the chair doesn’t even move forward and backward. I am wondering if I used the same replacement that you used, will it solve the forward and backward thing? Or should I use another replacement?

antiblingdesigns says:

. Much respect. I am thankful for your effort as I will be tackling this problem myself as soon as the parts arrive.

threebose says:

one website said the battery needed to be disconnected or the airbag will deploy when you remove the seat. True? or false?

Ken Krause says:

Great job….thanks for sharing!

Alexis Perez says:

So when it broke down it did not move forward or backwards?

Eloy De Luna says:

Where did you get the gear from

Michael S says:

Your welcome.

Michael S says:

Very nice detailed video good repair. Next time I would recommend you wear a face shield, in case of grinding wheel breaks. Also, if you don't mind, I would suggest scoring some grooves down the smooth inside of the gear you jb welded. Just to be sure the jb weld has something to hold on to.

Bea Soqui says:

Can you come do mine? I have the same problem. Thanks your video is very informative I might have to try this

Brad Callaghan says:

Do you have a link for the gear replacement kit?

usscott says:

Good job. Did the original gear have a lubricant in the housing? Where did you buy the new parts.

Will Lewis says:

Good job thanks for the insight

Juan Montero says:

Narsiso Ambriz says:

Awesome video, does this gear fix the front to back motion, my seat will not go forward or back to adjust for my wife ?

Nick Weiss says:

Well, I need to do this, and I was hoping it would be less of a pain in the ass, but no such luck, huh. Thanks for the video, and I’ve let my family know not to take what I say while working on this job personally.
