I recommend rear view mirror glue it bonds glass to metal. Been using it for years cures in 5 min in the summer. 15 min in the winter
I can not get my hinges to line up for nothing! I’m literally at the end and stuck…is anybody else having/had trouble lining up the holes to slide the glass back on??
Yep thanks for the vid
Good stuff bro…I’m about to repair mine which has actually been replaced once before. Original owner of a 2005 Z71 Tahoe w/270k miles.
Why didn't you just put JB Weld on the other hinge where it was starting to crack, it probably would make it last a lot longer
Thanks for the vid. Trying the repair this weekend.
Mine just broke so I like the vid and comments sure help a lot. Now it’s time to try the repair for myself
JB weld will hold for a while but it will eventually fail and the glass will fall off and shatter on the road, ask me how I know.? Ye can get an aftermarket glass from Safelight. No need to pay $1000 from a Chevy dealer.
What about gorilla glue
Problem i found, after i broke my glass is… u need to make sure your hinges are placed EXACTLY where the old one's were, there is NO forgiveness on the alignment of those "pegs"
the only thing he failed on was the "keep u updated" part, I..like many others, want to know how long it lasted? From the comments i guess I'm going to use the 3m 5200
hows the repair holding up?
Great video man. I have to do this to my wife’s Tahoe
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Worked like a charm.
Why not buy a new hinges?
Hi, yes I replaced my air shocks 5 months ago, and one glass hinge broke off a few weeks ago. Tried the JB WELD 5 minute set up stuff (hadn't seen your vid). It held for 3 days with air shocks on. Think I will try the 3M 5200 next. It is very strong on my boat jobs.
7:40 Bigly Wrong. Cody was actually helping you with mowing!!! 🙂
Thanks man.
What kind of glue is that
Super video, used it replace left hinge, now need to fix right hinge
Good morning 1/20/2019 nice video, question is the rear window still glued?
Thanks for the upload.
Thanks so much for the video! I had to replace the liftgate on my '99 Blazer and this was very helpful!
Great video – thanks
Good video, my hinge broke on my Denali, where can i purchase new hinges? Can’t find them anywhere
3 years later… is it still holding? This just happened to my '03 this weekend.. after replacing the struts glass is $320 so looking at options
I tryed jb epoxy metal weld 15min did not hold in heat from sunlight.
I will try the permatex 2 part
I went to the junk yard YOU PULL and Pay and bought a new (used)one for $48 thanks for your explanations I was able to pull off the new one and install it on my Tahoe 2002. Thanks also for recommending to save the C clips
