Very good video. Re the connection preference – soldering is NOT a good idea in an environment where there's a lot of movement and vibration. The crimp connectors and heat shrink insulation is better, UNLESS you do the overlapped and twisted type of soldering, followed by heat shrink over the soldered connection. Few people are taught this anymore, and even then the place where the solder ends, the individual strands will bend and tend to crack where they meet the solder. I prefer the connectors you used for this repair, staggered and spiral wrapped the way you did it. The question I have is why the yellow wire was cracked and broken in several places when the blue wire was relatively intact. Different manufacturers maybe? The greenish powder at the connector end is copper oxide, with electrolytic migration of copper in between the strands. The black powder in the middle of the wire is where the breaking strands thinned out, and presented a higher resistance at that point, heating up and eventually broke. Then it shorted out a few more times with movement, burning the surrounding plastic insulation, which then acted as a carbon resistor until it separated enough to conduct little or no current.

what kind of OBD socket in GM standard 16pins socket?? or 12pins?? are you using adaptor??

Mike Justice says:

The diagnosis was under an hr.
Is this added to the labor or both labor and diagnosis one price?
Thanks

Safety glasses always?

Ashroyer86 says:

I stagger wires mainly in case a butt were to fail or the wires rub through and touch each other creating a short.

What's your website where you sell the connectors and such?

I just got 2 new tires installed on my 2014 impala ltz plus one tire rotated to the front (FrontLeftSide wheel not touched). As soon as i was close to exiting the parking lot i noticed my abs acting up as if was slipping and shortly after making a right turn the ABS and Stabilitrak lights came on. Tomorrow im going to have it taken to a shop as part of the damage claim I filled with Discount tires, my question is… Would a routine tire change in any way shape or form cause these lights to come up?

I have looked up what could cause this but noone has pointed to a tire change agitating the short abs wire harness. Any feedback is much appreciated

Absolutely FANTASTIC and in depth video.  I knew I had an issue with one of the speed sensors, and have replaced both cables on GM's before based on other videos.  Replaced them right to the ABS module.  I extend the new harness to the module with some old outdoor extension cord.  take the remainder of the sketchy GM harness right out of the equation all together.  However, I am ashamed to say, that as a former mechanic, I would have never thought to jump from one side to the other to verify, absolutely, the problem.  I've done that a lot with other components, speakers, lights, etc.  But never thought to do it with the wheel speed sensors.  Genius sir!

excellent video. A week ago I got a C1233 (open/short right front). hubs are Timken and relatively new. It is winter. yesterday was below 0°C so there was no water. No ABS light. The day before it was above 0°C and there was water. Light was on. Connected scanner and drove. Wheel speed was being reported by all sensors and were accurate. With scanner I could clear code and it came back almost immediately. Repeated this process a few times. No way to "prove it". Would you recommend replacing wire harness for peace of mind. Bonus: no soldering required since there is a connector at both ends. Best price for harness is $105US + shipping. Car is '97 regal. I take good care of car even though this is a winter only car.

Hey Mike is it possible for this speed sensor harness to be defective or shorted but not have any dash lamp indications. I'm getting what sounds like the ABS kicking on when making a sharp left turn from a dead stop. The sound only lasts a second or two but I don't notice any ABS or other dash lamps coming on when this is happening. 2013 Chev Impala LT
