Georgie Benson says:

I like this video as it’s about sticking to the problem area and not being
lazy with sanding and wet sanding. A little finesse/patience is what’s
missing from many home repairs.

This is what I did on my VW more or less, but didn’t use the fibre glass as
the rust was surface only, and also applied some rust converter just to be
on the safe side before priming and painting.

MccarthyUK100 says:

Something I would like to know is … Say I have a rust spot right in the
middle of my car bonnet, and if I was to put the bonnet in a dry place
would it continue to rust or would it stop rusting? What I am trying to ask
is rust like mould if it is untreated would it just continue to rust away

crash1974lol says:

This is by far one of the best vids I could find on spot repair. Every damn
on YouTube is either DIY your entire car or wet sanding out scratches! My
searching paid off, thanks!

crash1974lol says:

Oh really? I thought he cut it right out. Ya that’s definitely a no no,
I’ll have to watch it again.

dsalpha18 says:

It may take alot of work, but its worth it because at the end, you still
have your car. Rust is dangerous if you allow it to continue out of hand.
It may cause structural integrity issues and higher repair bills later on.
It is a big concern in the aircraft industry and you should not take it too
lightly.

arnie T says:

a waste of time putting body filler paste and paint on if you don’t
completely treat even the smallest amount of rust first. Then apply a few
coats of primer and top coats (not just a couple of coats). The rust will
come right back through and look even worse within a year or two.

crash1974lol says:

The idiot who said the rust will come back use your head, if you remove it
completely it can’t. You’re not covering it up.

crash1974lol says:

If he complete sanded out the rust he’d be fine

Marc King says:

Jan Penuel
Fiberglass is bad, it has to be welded. Use only epoxy primer.

Epoxy primer doesn`t go over bared metal. Fiberglass is OK if you
don`t apply over rusty metal. Burned metal is getting rust faster so
welding is not better. Rust on all of the cars is is starting around spot
welding area.

Dix1206 says:

holy shit I can’t believe how much work it took

Jurgen Grant says:

That’s a Shit Load of Work for just one bit of rust!!!

wildcard749 says:

hmm I have some rust starting above the wheel wells on my car I don’t have
a garage or tools but I would try something like this if I could

twopinacoladas says:

Great video, simple and to the point. These tips will come in handy
tomorrow =)

Jaxx monster says:

Glad I happened across this video, all the other videos out there were so
bad the body shop was starting to look good!

Jan Penuel says:

Fiberglass is bad, it has to be welded. Use only epoxy primer.

Official How To Paint a Car - DIY Learn Auto Body And Paint Training Site says:

I still rather sheet metal, but this is a nice fast quick fix that I always
do too!

REX CROATORUM says:

or buy a Audi 😀

Dain Frisby-Dart says:

This is the best and simplest rust repair video on here. All the others are
super old & obsolete or too complicated & requiring special tools. I can do
this! Thanks!

jonnielahti says:

@TheCanadian951 i use 400grit

vornavalley says:

Thanks – does your book come in CD medium. I am about to start restoring a
1980 audi.

2wai says:

Use POR-15 and that shit is gone for good.

oasis1818 says:

@Frisby0 I like it because it’s simple and the video quality is actually
viewable unlike the home made videos that make up all the other rust videos

Ginissi says:

@peter455sd well most cars these days, their bodies are mode from fiber
glass, so they dont really rust.

alexpoz09 says:

only a matter of months before the rust comes back

nannytenerife says:

your supposed to spray rust converter before putting body filler, he also
forgot to clean and wire brush behind the wheel arch…. pretty lame
vid…after a year or so rust will come through the body filler.

aws0mn3ss says:

@yTubeBlowsBigBalls so i would lay down a small coat of primer before the
filler… btw i have always put the filler over bare metal on my old
vehicle restorations.

phobos2k2 says:

@rocboy2006 I used to live in Canada. If I still did, I’d look in Canadian
Tire for these products.

Paul M says:

If you live in Montreal area try “Les Distributions Larco”, they can
prepare the correct topcoat paint for you.

tkrotchko says:

The only thing I’d add is that you should consider using something like
POR-15 after you sand the rust as much as you can, and before using bondo,
otherwise, I suspect the rust will come back rather quickly

rustrepaironcar says:

What would you say about the rust repair job that was done to my car? I
would really like to receive some comments from people that know how this
job should be done, please!

johnobd says:

what about body filler sealer?????????????????

Lukelona says:

Alloy wheels dont rust, aluminum also. That is oxidation, wire wheel the
rims until smooth again, prime with green self-etching primer , paint with
alloy rim paint specially to stick to alloy and take heat of brakes.

Bjarmi92 says:

that easy ??

Pegde says:

@dleksi yes, rust holes are better to fix with the welding method

micasaverde says:

Perfect – exactly what I needed! Thank you, you have just saved me $300.

25rsboy says:

two of my biggest gripes in the world: rust, and mold/mildew

Emily Whitehead says:

don’t put body filler over bare metal!!!
