Just aquired a 2002 F150 with a stuck ash tray. Thanks for the video showing how to repair it. Pulled mine out, drilled a screw through the spring and works like a charm…thanks again!
Little bit of JB Weld on both sides and it’s good as new. Probably better.

Thanks for the great videos! My ashtray spring broke a long time ago, and I just left it that way. I can fix it now! Just watched your door panel removal vid too because I have to replace the door lock actuator. Thanks again!
Get below dash, you see 2 tabs underneath cup holder.
1) pull cup holder out as far as it will go.
2) From below, pull down with one finger on each tab simutaneously to release them from the track. Make the peace sign with your fingers, find the tabs, pull down simutaneously.
3) While holding the tabs down, pull cup holder completely out with other hand.
No tools needed.
4) Drill 2 pilot holes through existing ‘spring location spots, re-attach the spring with 2 sheet metal stud screws

just repaired my ash tray,used some small screws with a pointed tip,went right in that hard plastic.appreciate your help man.
