do you need to disconnect the battery to replace headlight bulbs?
They attach as shown in the video. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

so the headlights itself doesn’t plug into anything?
It’s funny, I thought my car was just being difficult when I had to replace
the driver side turn signal in the front. But it looked like you had a
little bit of a tough time getting yours out. I know I dis for some reason
Haha. Video was very helpful too thanks!
Great video, thanks! I thought this was going to be harder.
Once those bolts are out, it should come loose for you as shown in this
video.
Hi yayo685. Your car’s headlight has a third 10mm bolt located on the
inside of your fender directly above your turn signal. You can access it
only from below your vehicle.
Thanks for posting this. I am having problems though. I removed all of the
bolts on the same headlight as shown, but it still feels like it’s attached
to something underneath. I didn’t want to force anything so I left it for
now. It’s a 2002 Ford Focus Wagon. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
2002 Focus ZTS here, and the driver-side headlight also has this 4th bolt
found on the underside. Very easy to access.
My 2000 ZTS also has a bolt underneath. I would add to the tools needed: A
flashlight.
You’re welcome. Thank you for visiting our auto repair channel on YouTube.
Have a great day. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
It should come off as shown in the video.
this is nice but this doesnt tell me how to take out the side blinker light
in the front. i figured it out today though. thankyou anyways.
Yes, I had the same problem! There is a bolt underneth the lamp. Stick your
head under the bumper and youll see it. Hope you figured it out before you
broke some thing 🙁 Has me confused for a while
There is a bolt underneath on some models like my 2004
Thanks for watching. Have a great day!
What is the name of the frame-like part that the headlights bolt onto that
sits right above the radiator? If you could reply to this as soon as
possible, it’d be very much appreciated.
Hi 1AAuto. I just wanted to add something about removing the headlights
out. I watched your video which was very helpful. I have a 2002 Ford Focus
SE and all was fine except for 1 more 10mm bolt underneath for the front
passenger side. I thought I was doing it wrong til I looked underneath to
find 1 more bolt that had to come out. Other than thanks THANKS A MILLION
for the video!!!!!
there is another bolt on the underside of the headlight and to remove it
you have to get onder the car (at least i had to on my 2004 ford focus
wagon)
I couldn’t get under the car, so I turned the wheels into the rightmost
position and opened the body in front of it. Then I was able to reach the
last bolt with my left hand. It’s a bit uncomfortable, especially if you
are right-handed like me, but not very difficult to do…
Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Here’s a picture of the bolt on the underside of the headlight, as
mentioned by many others here. For those having problems finding it, it’s
opposite the side clearance lamp. It’s easier to reach if you can get under
the car – please do so safely using jackstands or ramps; don’t trust your
life to a ten cent o-ring seal in a hydraulic jack.

The video was very informational and to the point. Just don’t forget that
there is a screw at the bottom of each light that you must go under the car
to undo before removing the headlight lamp assembly is possible. I did not
ready all the comments and got stumped for a few minutes trying to figure
out why the head light assembly wouldn’t come out.
@JMARIE67 Yes the process should be exactly the same on your Ford Focus
wagon.
how do you replace the passengers side need answer asap.
It’s worth taking out the headlamp unit to enable easy bulb replacement.
Very helpful video, thanks for uploading.
@emaclynch same for me.
@emaclynch Important: You are right there is another bolt underneath
thanks alot for the info, helped alot! my wife’s 2001 did infact have the
bolt on the underside of the light assembly…was a bit easier to remove
with a wrench. keep up the great work!
Hello 1AAuto, i am unable to remove the headlight assembly. It seems to be
stuck do you have any idea why?
Thank you! I didn’t realize there was a clip that needed to be moved before
removing the bulb! I was able to replace the bulb. Awesome video.
@chamblizi It would be the same as the drivers side.
Once you remove the 3 10 MM bolts at the top of the light, it should come
right out for you.
on my 2004 ford focus.there was another bolt underneath the car that had to
be removed to take out the headlight……….you must remove the
headlights to change the bulb……the other way is impossible…..
it’s helpfulll thank you very much ! keep doing this kind of good things
Does this same technique apply to the 2004 Ford Focus ZTW wagon?
i did all of the stuff you said to remove the headlight on my 2001 for
focus and it still will not come out please help!
thank you very much big help
@emaclynch Thanks for posting that. Looks like our car had been taken apart
before and that bolt was not reinstalled.
It works…
thanks guys!
Very helpful, but for the passenger side, there is another 10MM bolt that
needs to be removed to get the headlight assembly out; it is accessed
underneath the car – only took me 15 minutes to figger that one out….
I need to replace a front blinker light thats on the side of the drivers
side of my 2003 ford focus. not one of the blinkers that are on the grill
like in this video. its more located on the bumper of my car. is there a
video for this so you can help me?
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for this.
Here’s a video that we shot that will show you how to do that.
Note to Uploader: Should really state in the video description that another
bolt underneath must be removed most of the time. trying to remove it
without getting to that bolt (which requires getting under the car) caused
me to bend the sheet metal. My bad. thanks for the video!
