Can anyone help me? My 92 chevy lumina starts runs fine for awhile a day at
most then starts going wacky. The rpms jump like crazy and the car starts
to jerk and sounds like its backfiring then it will die out and not start
unless i keep gas pressed and it will sometimes die when gears are changed.
Have done tune up and replaced TP sensor but still having trouble. PS
catilyic converter taken out and pipe put through but car had jerking
problem way before. HELP!!!
Use PB blaster, its sold at most auto parts stores. Comes in a small white
can, with yellow and red design/lettering. Spray it on any rusty, or
stubborn bolts; it’ll take care of it.
@tubongsigaw there is sloted holes under it you can fit your fingers in and
push the plate in and out to see if it is sticking or not this is just a
quick test a proper test would be take it off and presure test it
if you can bear with me and be careful with this method. use it at your own
risk im not liable. but mix one parts fuel injector cleaner with 9 parts
car cleaner and it will dissolve the carbon a little faster
you didn’t show the hardest parts, taking the damn valve off with the
rusted solid bolts & nuts, usually they have to be broken/ cut off they are
rusted so bad.
@chevrolet0388 ive replaced a few.if its easy to get to,reuse and see
before replacing. if its a bitch to get to,spend the $4 and replace it so
your not swearing “i got to fuckin do it again”
Excellent guide, thanks very much.. I see one gasket here, my Vauxhall Opel
parts supplier says it has two gaskets, top and bottom.. I presume I
replace both?
I just got a 96 buick regal and went autozone and had this same error. I’ve
only had it for a few months and have had some major problems with it. I
almost blew the engine when we drove it for about an hour on the highway
not knowing that the water pump was broke. after that happened we starting
having the check engine light with the egr failure. Has anyone else had any
problems like this?
@LoseMyFocus i dont think the egr is the problem, but without being able to
check it out in person i cant rule it out. sounds like a fuel problem or a
vacuum problem(egr runs off vacuum). if it were me id hit a pick and pull
and grab a used one, clean it ,and switch it out.see it thats makes a
difference. if not id check the vacuum lines used starter fluid(lightly
spray vac lines with car running…idles spikes=bad vac lines). doing
things should run $10-15 total doing it yourself. check in after
If you don’t want to or can’t get the EGR valve off, you can pull off the
vacuum line and screw a small screw into the opening of the vacuum line.
Try to use a small enough screw that you don’t f up the vacuum line though,
in case you want to replace or clean it later.
@tubongsigaw its a 1st gen dodge neon.ive never bought a new one,as ive
always cleaned them up and reinstalled. if i ever have to replace one ill
just go to a pick and pull and get one for 8 dollars. if the check engine
light isnt on with a code for the egr i wouldnt worry about it
So spraying carb cleaner inside the EGR doesn’t destroy the rubber
diaphragm inside? I was told that the carb cleaner will destroy it. I have
a 94 Chevy with a 350 TBI with the EGR getting nasty, been looking to fix
it.
word of caution, never spray carb cleaner so liberally as to get some on
the diaphragm inside the egr valve housing
shoulda sprayed it with oven cleaner cuz that looked my oven and I sprayed
it and hosed it with water and mopped everything . quite a difference
my camero chugs periodically should I clean the egr valve
Nice language, mouthbreather.
after you get that stuff floating around can’t you put it in a pot of hot
dawn soap to finish clean it..
good job
“clean that shit out of there”……….” get a little wet yeeeeaaaahh”.
LOL
I didn’t know Darth Vader knew how to work on cars. Scchhuuhhh scchhuuhhhh
Just buy the part damn.
tried cleaning my ear this way. still fuckin hurts. you didn’t say not to
clean your ear this way.jackass! ouch
Did you do that repair in some ones parking lot? White stripe
When are egr valves not re useable ?

@madonnarules any car with an egr,so yes

@matbatter2010 thanks man
sorry daddy
watch yourself with the chemicals. can cause cancer and bad for the
environment.
you made a mistake spraying carb cleaner on the plastic diapgragm, that
will ruin it man. Just spray on the metal holes.
This mafucka is funny!!! lmao
I can’t see that doing much. What about stripping it down and doing a
physical clean instead of poking with an ear stick.
@rushymoto thats as stripped down as an egr gets
its like hes making love to the egr, “oh yeah! get in there deep” wtf!
Best one on EGR valve. Thanks.

@mmulisha1989 hold ur breathe til i care
hope you cleaned your dash next. if the cars no longer stalling at idle,
your mates might stall getting in once they see the dash.
just close it with a plate 😉
the EGR valve for mine is a hundred bucks, so this is a good idea
this motherfucker’s falling apart! lol
One thing added, to reset the computer on some cars you pull the fuse
rather than unhook the battery so your radio presets don’t have to be
redone.
Thanks for posting this vid, you just saved me $45 ($125 if I bought a new
EGR Valve).

Cool video…..I got a reading of P1404 which stood for exhaust gas system,
would cleaning my EGR be the solution??
Good commentary …. and the emergency vehicles epic

How long did the code stay off? Did this 11 months ago, and it came back
on. Thinking about taking on cleaning all the ports.

This is America, we clean our motherfucking EGR valves in the parking lot
at the very end of the video, you said sensors replace themselves. I’m not
sure about that. they might reset themselves, but not replace themselves.
