The flex is back and doing well, today we will be replacing the spark plugs and coils, i know a complete coil replacement isn’t necessary, however in my past experience on higher millage vehicles there comes a time were you start chasing coils around failure after failure, after 2 strikes i replace them all while digging deeper, hope you enjoy

I’m going to change the spark plugs, should I change the boots also 100,000 mile tune up ? Also great video, well done and thank you

anw8589 says:

I went to the ford dealership and the guy told me to do an injector flush when I do a tune up, he said it helps and you have to do it. And then tells me the charge is $300…that is asinine. Would you recommend doing that injector flush?

Eric Rigoroso says:

i really appreciate your video my man! same car but it's 2012. thank you………

John-Del says:

Now that you've done the water pump, you'll be changing out the PTU next… LOL

Rich Little says:

Thanks for the video! Coil pack 3 went out today. After watching your video I had the job done in about an hour. Thanks!!

I am planning on replacing my ignition coils on my 2009 Ford Flex. Has anyone used the following coil: AIRTEX/WELLS 5C1652, and if so are they any good?

pwee507 says:

you ever do an alternator on this car?

MI_MONEY says:

Did you need a special spark plug socket to take plugs out? i heard its not standard 5/8 socket like most spark plugs. Guess on ford its a longer 5/8 deep well. Just bought a 07 Lincoln MKZ same motor wanna do a tune up soon.

Alex Pea says:

Do you have any videos on replacing an alternator or serpentine belt on a late model Flex, Edge, or Explorer?

Guitar Player says:

Thank you, after watching this video we were able to change our spark plugs with relative ease.

But prior to changing the spark plugs we power washed the top of the motor and engine bay. We took our 2009 Flex SEL (and my Honda Civic) to a self-serve car wash and first we sprayed the engines with Simple Green, let sit for a five minutes, then sprayed clean with the power washer (on rinse). Cover electrical connectors with rags if you want to; just don't over do it with the power washer. And wait a few minutes after you finish power washing to let most of the remaining water evaporate off.

Now the engines look great and the Flex runs more smoothly with new plugs (108K on the orig ones, probably way overdue). Oh and we did oil changes on both cars yesterday. Tomorrow we will be rotating tires.

John Benz says:

I want to thank you for a great video.   I also want to thank you for a straight up step by step way to remove the intake and your advice on the anti seize.   I used to be an ASE mechanic, how ever I changed careers in 1988.  Lots has changed in those almost 28 years.   I still have my tools and do what ever I can on my vehicles if I can.  I will be doing this on my car as soon as the weather starts to warm up.  No heat in the garage.   LOL

JAYMAN ONeill says:

How do you determine which coil is bad? sorry for the previous comment typo it's 0200hrs

JAYMAN ONeill says:

Excellent video, don't know if I might have missed it, how do you determine which coil is bad?

ben d says:

how do you determine which coil is misfiring? I have access to 4 coil packs with engine running but not the two on the back closest to the steering wheel.

Dirtyharry70585 says:

moisture can come from underbody automatic car washes. I had two plugs and coil packs on an escape '01 fail on the rear bank , plugs were rusted too

swagg so smooth23 says:

did you have a check engine light on? I don't but my performance is horrible and gas mileage

Dave Lessard says:

Great video, I have the same Flex with a misfire problem so this was very helpful.  Are you generally satisfied with the Wells products?  I notice their prices are quite a bit less than the other brands, just wondering if the quality is good.

wysetech2000 says:

It's so nice to see you back again  and with an excellent video. I love watching you work as you are a  conscientious and true professional. Keep {:-)

tracycolorado says:

Don't worry about Utube , you and the family comes first

Ozzstar says:

Glad the engine has held up after that water pump repair.  That was a good call you made and it turned out in your favor.  It's a tough decision to make especially when a so called 'pro' makes an incorrect diagnosis.  Take it easy – Ozz

Monte Hyler says:

Good to see you back on here, Will! I really enjoy your videos and I know you have much more to teach us! Thanks and keep the great videos coming!

j georges says:
