Old Hyundai Evap System: I went around with this in a 2001 Hyundai Accent. One problem is that the vent air filter for the evap system can get clogged with dirt easily. This can make it difficult to fill the gas tank. Also, the charcoal canister has a foam rubber separator that can dissolve and charcoal pieces then get in the vent lines clogging them. I live in California, and any car 1976 and newer must pass a smog inspection every 2 years, 100%. No fault codes at all, so I had to fix the evap system on the Hyundai.
What worries me about Ford is their new CEO wants to get rid of a lot of dealerships. Is he getting rid of lots of mechanics? Other companies re following suit.
The EDGE is more on the ESCAPE platform then the explorer

I had heard a certain years have a constant issue with awd system overheating and link breaking
3.5 liter engines are known for water pump failures. Change the coolant every two years. The water pump is behind the timing chain. 14 hours to replace it.
The thing you have to worry about on those 3.5 Cyclone's, is the water pump going. It's built into the timing chain.
