Edwin J Stephens says:

Well at least the ice cleaning gave you a better starting point obviously its going to take quite a bit more work but it was a real mess to start with but it'll be worth all the hard work in the end

Errol Dyson says:

It certainly has come up looking great but what a lot of elbow grease. I’m guessing you’re not intending to totally strip the engine, which I find a bit surprising considering the length of time it’s been sitting. Having restored a number of aluminium engines, all motorcycles, I can say a beautiful bright finish can be achieved by bead blasting followed by hydra blasting at a very economical rate. Sure it’s not as clean and blasting cabinets are required but the black medium can be used several times before it needs to be changed, further, hydra blasting can be used on bearing surfaces without damaging them.
I was very surprised to see a lack of breathing apparatus given dry ice is pure carbon dioxide but it didn’t seem to do anyone any harm. Care would be need though in a more confined area.
Keep it up it’s looking fantastic.

Unboxed says:

6:00 for the actual cleaning.

Johnny Quid says:

I think my pressure washer would do much better and much faster!? Its a Simpson 4600 psi . I could also hook up a pump to blast media if needed!

speedy gonzalez says:

I can't believe the result you got, the engine looks spectaular.

K Brickell says:

a lot of got spots on the flywheel ! a new flywheel would be a good idea to save the clutch and stop clutch judder

It's a technology that goes against global warming.

Vapour blasting will give you that finish

sundar iyengar says:

Interesting to watch….
Would it count for Green house gas emissions… CO2 … is this an environmentally safe process..

Graham Dawes says:

I would have thought a good steam cleaning first then after use the dry ice to finish. Vapour blast is really good for fine finish of dismantled parts.

Gasthauz says:

I bet you filled the entire workshop with grime…

Tomasz W says:

What about extra co2 in the room?
