I've never owned a diesel, but I did own two Dodge trucks. I wanted to give them a try, they looked cool. Both were riddled with electrical and transmission issues. I'll stick with my trusted F-150.
I thought scotty said to stay away from dodge/ram trucks I thought the truth was that they sucked…
I'm a Mopar guy and I still have my 99 Dodge Ram 1500, 5 speed manual with the V6. 150K miles still going strong, although I wish it had the 5.2 V8 for better reliability and towing, but I guess I can't complain too much, it's been a decent truck when I need it.
I bought a new Ram 3500 dually 4×4 with the 5.9 Cummins, 6 speed Getrag manual trans. Only problem I had was the cheap valo clutch. After the 2nd clutch I put in a South Bend dual disc ceramic with the single mass flywheel. The clutch kit cost $2,000 but is stil going strong 15 years later. I was also able to get a two door cab as I have never liked the look of a four door truck.
