How To:1994-2002 Dodge Ram Clock Spring Replacement

Hey Everyone, In replacing these Clock Springs I recommend using OEM Dodge as i had a bad experience with the aftermarket ones. The reason i pulled out an OEM one was because when i replaced my column i was not careful as i never planned on using this column and spun the wheel too many times one way and ruined it. Hope this video helps you. Josh

Thanks for the video. It helped get me started. I have a 2001 Cummins. I have the radio controls on mine so probably why my part was different. I have one medium sized connector instead of the 2 split wires. Just a pointer so you dont have to put your rig back together to order the correct part like me! Also my steering wheel horn/airbag bolts were an 8mm. All is well now and also i fixed my horn! Haven't had a horn on this truck since i bought it 5 years ago! Thanks again. Happy wrenchin' y'all!

Hi Sir, will a bad clock spring make my horn stay stuck.

Suzanne Neikirk says:

I have a 2000 dodge dakota with the same damn problem cruise doesn't work and airbag light stays on. My problem is also the steering wheel is upside down when wheels are straight. Think when my brother replaced the rack and pinion something didn't get down in the process of doing and that's why my steering wheel is upside. Not sure if i replace the clockspring would fix that problem but definitely fix cruise and airbag light problem.

So i replaced the clock spring but when I pulled the steering wheel my steering wheel column squeaks with and bump or movement. Any suggestions where I need to tighten?

Krink545 says:

99 Cummins. The cruise light does not come on when I turn the ignition on. Any thoughts? Cruise was working.

Jim Nasium says:

you were pressing the wrong button to activate cruise control..

Jeffery Steele says:

Just want to ask your truck has all the cruise control stuff under the hood correct? My 02 3500 the cruise light on cluster dont come on when I turn the key on so

Daniel Lacorazza says:

Would anyone know why on a 2002 why when I press the horn there is no sound but the right blinker will flash?

Ken Kaniff says:

new clock spring, no horn and airbag light still on. IDK what to do now. Horn works if I short it on the steering wheel nut.

Efti_7 Solid says:

I changed the clock spring but the light still on any advice

MrPsychguy1 says:

Would a bad clock spring cause your horn to constantly go off? The only way I could stop it was to disconnect the wires going directly to the horns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

big murph says:

The 94-97 has a different steering wheel set up. But I am sure it's close to the same

Kyle Mcknight says:

Nice video man, I’m going to have to do this. My cruise doesn’t work and my airbag light is on. Never really thought about it being the clock spring. Thanks for the upload.
