How can I get a new clip for the shock? Mine broke after few days other than that I love this

Chris h says:

You may want to update this video, as loctite is no longer with the kit and there is a spacer inserted. Made it easier to do for sure

Manuel Korivu says:

I just installed the kit. The shock absorber is weak. I regret the installation. In addition, it took a good hour of work.

rick Cucco says:

anyone know an easy way to remove the shock from the ball ….started to rain on me and i was ruched ..installed shock upside down ……my bad

Do you have tailgate open and close 2012chev truck

Will this work on a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?

Menlo Menlo says:

The thumbnail for this video shows the completed install with the rubber bumper removed and the instructions say to remove it. Why is it not removed in the video???

Menlo Menlo says:

My tailgate falls faster than what is shown in this video???

Menlo Menlo says:

I just installed it today, 29 Nov 2020. And the instructions said to remove the rubber stopper, so I did. Do I need to put it back?

Is it okay to install the dampener the other way? Upside down . My cable makes a slapping noise upon opening if I install it the correct way.

Rene Bueno says:

Never could have installed mine w/o this video. Thanks!

My cable clip broke when trying to squeeze it on to cable anyone have ideas for a replacement that will do the same thing

C Thompson says:

I just installed the DZ43301 on my 2016 Ram 1500 and it works great. One thing I noticed is that when closing the tailgate the cylinder hits the rubber tailgate stop/spacer making the tailgate bind just a little before latching. I moved the top ball mount as far toward the tailgate as it would allow and that helped some, but could be better. When I get some more time to work on it I may need to cut away a little clearance in that rubber stop/spacer to give the cylinder a place to rest into.

Aaron Tackett says:

The parts that come with this kit are now different than what’s shown in the video. The instructions have changed as well. The new bracket that mounts to the tailgate positions the piston farther back when in the closed position allowing the tailgate cable to become lodged between the bedside and the piston making it nearly impossible to get the tailgate open. Very disappointed. I’d rather have the design shown in the video. Had one on my last truck (ford) and loved it. The one for my ram had to be taken off because it was creating more problems than it fixed. Very disappointed.

Leroy Thompson says:

Just installed one of these on my Ram Works great. A couple of small tips (nothing life changing).

1. Use the written directions supplied with the kit. They are slightly different than the video. Mine was dated 9/25/2018 and the video here is from 2014.

2. If you can, set up the nutsert tool the night before you plan to install. Set the nut too the correct spacing (3/4"), lay a bead of loctite and thread the nutsert on and snug it against the washer Let it set overnight. No need to wait an hour

3. If you have a 10mm gearwrench, mark the nut of the nutsert tool on the side of it (I used whiteout) and use a gearwrench to tighten.

Josef says:

The cable clip 2:00 gets jammed between the shock and the inner channel of the truck body 2:06. So now it takes one hand to open the latch and one hand to unjam the cable clip.

How long will gas strut last and how much is a new one?
