Dodge how to fix P1762 42RE 62RE

Did your dodge/jeep/chrysler throw the code p1762 after sitting for a bit? This may fix it without having to replace anything a zero dollor fix. You should try this before replacing unnessasry parts. The transmission before would go into 2nd instead of going through the gears.

Fyi that doesn't fix your problem. You're just resetting the ECU.

Is it possible to check for shorts in the wiring of those sensors

CruzRedEye says:

This is not a video on "how to fix your transmission"

Jason Worden says:

That is NOT fixing ANYTHING. You're simply clearing the codes, then after X amount of miles the problem WILL return. You need to change your title because this is NOT a repair

my 03 JGC sat for about a month and once i got her back on the road i got p1762/63 right away, maybe a week later i had a starting issue that turned out to be a loose connection at the solenoid. I had disconnected the battery to do the starter and the codes had gone away but came back a day or two later. I hadnt done the key part though at that time. I just went out and did it and the codes did indeed go away. Took her for a spin on some back roads and jumped on the highway briefly, and she did shift more or less normally. There were one or two hiccups but that may just have been the computer relearning the shift points. I have a spare trans with less than 40k on it after a rebuild, and was gonna swap out the sensors this weekend but you may very well have saved me some time and trans fluid. So thank you, either way. Anyway, ill give it a few days. Hopefully it'll stick this time. Ill report back with an update in a few days. Thanks again bud. Oh, one more thing… did anyone else get the p1763 along with the p1762?

Don't know why this video had more dislikes than likes, got the p 1762 error code on my jeep grand cherokee 2000 4.0L 2wd yesterday. My jeeps transmission felt weird after doing a starter solenoid repair a couple weeks ago and the car battery was disconnected for a week. I decided to try the help in this video and now my jeep is shifting properly and is accelerating how it's supposed to! Hopefully the issue does not come back, it's good to do this before throwing money and parts at the car and not actually fixing it.

Eduardo Rivera says:

Could've just erased the code and BAAAMMM fixed again.

Carlos Diaz says:

I got the same code on my jeep grand cherokee 1997 4.0 six in line. 4×2.
P1762

Carlos Diaz says:

let me check:
disconnect both terminals
turn key to ignition position
connect terminals
wait 30 seconds for the reset of ecu
right?
