2012,2013,2014 Dodge Ram C/V Brake Light switch adjust

For those who might have not known this is a video showing you how to adjust the brake light switch for a 2012/13/14 Dodge Ram C/V. If you have to replace the booster (we did) and did not know (we did not), that you may have to adjust the brake light switch to work with the new booster. We searched the internet and found nothing so thought this might be helpful to someone else (we hope). This switch has multiple wire connections which we thought was odd for a simple switch so we tested it and found by pushing the plunger in you will hear clicks. Each of these clicks is an adjustment point but still allow the switch full travel to turn the brake lights on and release to let them turn off. Disclaimer: I am saying “we” above but my buddy and the poor guy who got stuck doing the work because I am not able to do much of this anymore, Alex D. is the “we”. Thanks Alex! Any Questions “we” will try to answer. Thanks!

We posted this and just left it. Had no idea it would have so many replies. Thank all of you, especially the ones with alternate ideas on how to do this. We just could not find a manual or engineer willing to divulge so we went for it. Thank you all 5 years later.

This is fantastic, I replaced A/C Evaporator in 2011 Dodge Ram SLT 4.7 and you have to drop the steering column and dash, and I must have pushed this in while working on it and noticed it was not touching the brake pedal shaft after reinstalling. This caused brake lights to be on and after driving SERV 4×4 light and Traction Control lights to be illuminated. I reinstalled after adjusting, took the negative battery cable off for a while, then put back together and went for a drive, everything works. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much dude

Have talked with engineer from ram. According to Ram NO ADJUSTMENT NEEDED. Push brake pedal down while installing. Then let off brake pedal slowly. Done. Nothing else needs to be done. Booster should not have anything to do with brake switch. Thats why you cant find any info. Please do your own research

You don’t know how much you helped us out!!!! When you say there is no other info like this online you are correct!!!! Without your help my friend would never have been able to fix this and figure it out and then I would have had to pay a professional shop. Thank you so very much!!!

Thank you this thing has driven me crazy and the instructions are shit

@davidmartinez7385 says:

mine refuses to pull back out

@garymillison9501 says:

It is self adjusting. Just pull it all the way out before installing and your brake pedal will adjust it perfectly.

@ThomasOrdon says:

Actually you'll find it in the shop manual and what you would do to set it in the vehicle is extended all the way out have the brake pedal push all the way down put the brake switch in place slowly let off the brake pedal and it will what they call self-adjust
