1981 Dodge D150 – Replacing intake/exhaust manifold gasket

Yeah, this was the next logical step in my diagnosis, or my horrible random misfire @ idle… (it won’t idle very well when warm.) Diesels when you shut it o…

Deceiving title. Over half the video had nothing to do with the gasket
install.

@paradoxdesigns Man…a slant six is one of the most simple engines there
are to work on. They run fine IF you learn how to do the 1 or 2 adjustments
they require. WHY would you change an engine just because the carburetor
needs overhauled? You have to change mounts, change radiator, change the
wiring around, buy new hoses, change the bellhousing, buy a flywheel..rerun
the exhaust..it’s not that SIMPLE.

@paradoxdesigns Meh… I guess so, but it’d take like a full day to swap
over likely… I like the idea of getting this one running right… well…
actually… when I got it it was running awesome, and did the two drives to
Tofino… Going to try two more things… playing with timing again, and
discovering the mixture adjustment screw on the carb.

@nrhbmw that thing would rock with a newer V8 though.. i find messing
around with rare’er motors like that 6 cylinder are just going to nickel
and dime ya to death and in the end it’ll still run like ass. there’s so
many wreckers around here with perfectly good motors to swap in.

WhoSaidTyler says:

@nrhbmw It’s probably going to start and end with that Holley 1945
carburetor. Either overhaul or replace it. They don’t run especially well
even when new. You can go back to the simple Carter BBS and it’ll run a lot
better.

Put a AMC 258 in it man, haha

paradoxdesigns says:

ya ever think about just dropping in another motor?
