OTHERWISE…

This is compatible on so many Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler models from the past 20 years and the below process should be similar as they all use the same part number which is at the end the page.

Here are most of the models this procedure should work on and be similar to:

Chrysler: 300, Pacifica, Chrysler Town and Country, PT Cruiser, Concorde, and Voyager

Jeep: Compass, Commander, Renegade, Liberty, Wrangler, Patriot, Cherokee

Dodge Ram Trucks: Ram 1500, Ram Pro Master City, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram Dakota

Dodge Cars: Challenger, Durango, Neon, Charger, Intrepid, Grand Caravan, Caliber, Nitro, Avenger, Journey, and Magnum.

*Only tools/equipment 🧰 needed are:*

1) Replacement Cigarette Lighter Socket/Well ***
(Part costs around $20-$25) LINK IS AT THE END OF THE DESCRIPTION

2) Flat-tip screwdriver

3) Pliers (optional)

*Remember to check your fuse first, and replace if necessary.

*INSTRUCTIONS:*

Step 1: Remove dash/bezel with flat-tip screwdriver. Start from one corner and go all the way around.

Step 2: Slightly pull dash out as much as possible. Squeeze and unplug each connector until the dash is free to place on the side.

Step 3: Use a flat-tip screwdriver and wedge the tabs on each corner of the Cigarette light box holder, and then slightly pull it out.

Step 4: Squeeze and unplug each seat warmer connector and the plug that is connected to the Cigarette lighter.

Step 5: Remove cigarette light box holder and tip upside down, and push/twist out the bad cigarette lighter.

Step 6: Remove the black housing clip from the damaged cigarette lighter by squeezing and pushing it down and off of the cigarette lighter.

Step 7: Line up the new Cigarette lighter in the black housing clip, and push it in place. Then snap it in the Cigarette lighter box holder. Make sure it is in tight, and not loose. Put a power outlet in and test it to make sure it is installed tightly.

Step 8: Put the Cigarette lighter box back in place, and connect the seat warmers and cigarette lighter plug. Make sure it snaps in place.

Step 9: Reconnect all plugs 🔌 to the dash/bezel.

Step 10: Snap the bezel/dash back in place.

Step 11: Test your new power outlet 🔌 (and maybe fuse again).

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Make sure you get the correct Cigarette lighter for your vehicle. Some cars have different and/or multiple cigarette lighter sockets. In this video the cigarette lighter being replaced is different than the other one hidden in the arm rest area. Please research the correct part number for the Cigarette lighter you are attempting to replace.***

The front Cigarette lighter is 4685590 (the one I’m replacing in this video which is for when the Ignition is turned on) and can be purchased here:

👉👉👉 https://amzn.to/3mGOpot

However, the one for the Arm rest/Center box is *DIFFERENT.* The part number for that one is 4793554AC which has a slightly different connector and is the other cigarette lighter that is always on.

That can be purchased here:

To remove the ashtray you absolutely DO NOT need to remove the entire bezel like that. Just take out the ash tray.

great video. Explained everything very well and simply. I will try this today.

C Rutherford says:

I finally had to wrench it out and break it in half to get it out. And then the hole wasn't standard size.
Tossed all that away, drilled a larger hole and put a normal cigarette lighter in there.
These sort of ridiculously complicated clips make me want to take a baseball bat and crack it across the head of the Chrysler engineer, send it flying all the way back to auto design school. I mean why not just a simple screw nut on the back, push on connectors? But I digress….
